Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

I will not bore you with reasons for my long abscence (1 year?). But the Mbuti project has restarted. I basically completed my sculpture of the body, based on a 100cm (3 foot) tall mannequin. Soon I will move in to the molding process, my silicone and other supplies have arrived. I am just smoothing...

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

I was going to do hands and feet today, but only got through the feet, still I was happy with the outcome, and happy I managed to sculpt both feet the same size!

Re: Silicone Doll Mold

...I think most foam is urethane, but that can mess with silicone.... Hi, thanks for the info on foam, I had seen where foam is problematic, I was just wondering if there is any other material, like resin or vinyl or who knows what, that would be cheaper than silicone, or maybe could be used to mak...

Re: Silicone Doll Mold

I think there has been one member of TDF that got into making dolls for sale, but they were made out of latex. Mid to full size Silicone dolls generally have a foam core to reduce weight and use less silicone. Production line dolls are cast in fiberglass molds. Assuming you have a workshop and all ...

Re: Silicone Doll Mold

People typically make a mold from a mannequin https://youtu.be/r9xluGhwvHw Thanks Jimbob22 Tou know I knew this french video since 2010 in the original author channel. Then he deleted his channel and I couldnt find it anymore. Apparently some asian guy in 2015 re-uploaded the tutorial. Very useful....

For the heating issue with the electric blanket overheating, for safety reasons, you can get a wifi temperature logger, you can put the tiny device in the doll body and it will send you an alarm on your phone when the temperature is too high (I use "Inkbird IBS-TH2 Wireless Thermometer" b...

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

The armature and head was just too large once I put clay on it. So I cut it off the armature, and of course it all collapsed in a wet pile. But I diligently unfolded it and stuffed some paper inside for some type of support, then adjusted the skull shape to a form that seemed more appropriate. I put...

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

Follow ... If you had to do that again, would you use the same filler? Hi, I wouldn't do anything like that again. It held fine, but it's not real, lively and exciting enough for it to be great boobs. Forget about cotton/polyfiber fill. It doesn't have enough weight to jiggle them boobs. Instead......

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

I cut some more aluminum today, I broke several drill bits, but got much better cuts. Here is a shoulder joint. I guess with various combinations of the Y-connector it's possible to loosely mimic any joint. Good enough for a small prototype doll. shoulder.mp4 Does anyone have any advice how to tight...

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

Follow Hi, I was looking at your videos, great stuff, especially the one where you did open breast surgery, I saw you left about 25mm thickness when you hollowed the breast and stuffed in pillow filler. How did that work? How did the breasts hold up? If you had to do that again, would you use the s...

Re: The Mbuti (pygmy) doll project

Aluminium is easy to cut.... About 200Mpa... Buy a Good Tools. :haha4: Any recommendations? The problem is not the cutting, but the tools slipping and then it gets hot and melts and clogs the blade/ Slow cut with a hacksaw is not so bad. The first few I went fast and furious with a hacksaw and it r...
