Re: How 2 tell the difference between a Silicone and TPE dol

Silicone is usually quite shiny, has pronounced seam lines, is not as resilient and a tad harder than TPE. Ok to powder, but don't oil silicone! I doubt what you have is silicone though. As Nes says, typically they don't come cheap unless damaged or worn out. Thanks @Mr Franz and @Nescio50, that ma...

Re: How 2 tell the difference between a Silicone and TPE dol

[quote="Who made the doll ask your friend, of better yet take a photo?[/quote] I can certainly ask him but honestly with the condition it was left in after manufacturing I wouldn't trust the source either as to what it's made of. I can get a photo for sure but don't think I have one handy, I'll...

How 2 tell the difference between a Silicone and TPE doll?

I have a friend (photographer) who bought a doll cheap and it came in with red skin. I have a TPE doll of my own and am pretty good with repairs and had an idea how to deal with the red skin... however I'm not sure if his doll is Silicone or TPE? Is there an easy way to test? Are there differences i...

Thanks Mr Franz... yes I forgot to mention that I absolutely cut the waistband so no hard tension there :)

Pantyhose? Long term?

Working with a TPE doll has anyone had any trouble leaving nude pantyhose on long term? (like several weeks) I've currently got my girl in jeans and put hose on as an underlayer both because it makes putting tight jeans on much easier (ie, possible!) and helps to prevent bleed (though I don't think ...

Re: Recommendations on how to proceed with this neck repair?

--> Rotating the head should not require removal of the head in part or whole, or touching of the face or cosmetics, or even removal of a wig. The head should rotate and the neck bend simply by applying pressure to the top or sides of the head, or very occasionally the chin. If when rotating the he...

Re: Before I put her in the dumpster... (updated with images

Any additional info, resources, etc. that you can share about TPE and its physicochemical properties, will be most welcome, since it is not only important for doll care (stain removal) but also for artistic purposes (for instance, my doll came without nipple dyeing and I was thinking in apply some ...

Yep, thanks seagull - after the repair I got online to figure out what it was, was called and what tool would work with it. For $20 I could have run to Home Depot and picked up a cheap one!

Re: Before I put her in the dumpster... (updated with images

Greetings Solimentus, Do not lose hope... the stains will fade in time and there are things that can be done in the mean-time that will help. I'm a doll ambassador for UFDolls and in the past year of working with my Mandy I've basically discovered (despite my best efforts) every way possible to dama...

Re: Recommendations on how to proceed with this neck repair?

Thanks to everyone for the guidance. Finally executed the repair yesterday and things went well and Mandi's all back in one piece. Mandi-4130090.jpg Mandi-4280025.jpg Getting the old material off was a bit harder than I'd expected as the stretch/cut with X-acto knife did not work very well. I eventu...

Recommendations on how to proceed with this neck repair?

Greetings all, I am working with a UFDolls Mandy (early addition, TPE) that I've had for about a year. Mandy has a very cool quick-release head that truly rocks. However in early versions of the doll the cap that topped the neck was made of hard plastic (polystyrene?) which was quite brittle and wit...

Yes, she is a real beauty... that's one of the things that really attracted me to her initially - that "girl next door" approachable beauty.

Re: Best practices with these dolls?

Some quick release connectors make this task a snap but the older threaded types can leave a black mark on the top of the neck if the Vaseline has been absorbed :) Ah, I see... that makes total sense. Mandy is the only doll I've worked with and I guess I've been spoiled by the quick-release head fo...
