Re: Why the name "ABYSS" for the company, not just "realdoll

Nope, King Tut, that's not it. Some companies like Abyss use their company name like a "brown paper bag". It's intended to act as a buffer and privacy feature for deliveries etc. Most people would prefer not to have a big return sticker with something like RealDoll on the label. So the com...

Re: Short term storage - large rubbermaid with wheels?

Look for something that allows your doll to lie straight not with knees and arms all bent. One of those deck storage boxes from Target may be a better bet - they have wheels and you can put a lock on it. I've heard gun safes are good too, but those are BIG and heavy...

Re: Where to find 16

DollMore is my favorite and they offer a lot of different types of 16" doll clothes. You need to know what size/shape doll you have. Look at their fashion doll line - those sizes should fit.

Re: Getting her into shoes

There are these neat little dress-shoe socks available now. Target has them --> http://www.target.com/Merona-Pack-Coolm ... tailbutton. They make getting shoes on dolls MUCH easier but they actually look cute even with fancier shoes.

I don't understand why someone doesn't make softer foam cores? Our muscles aren't made like that unless were in rigor mortis; something more like memory foam would be tight. :D At least some companies do use some soft foam cores (4Woods uses a full body soft foam core and Sinthetics use some rigid ...

Re: What makes a bad picture?

The biggest trigger that a photo is of a doll is messed up finger positions. And even if you want the picture to look like it's a doll, still messed up fingers. They make me cringe. A good tip is to look at your own hand in a mirror if you're unsure which way the fingers look natural. The other thin...

Re: Potential doll owner needs the truth.

With proper care and following manufacturer directions for use and posing etc you should get a long life from your doll. The biggest things you should be conscious of are not using materials that will damage your doll (like silicone lubricant and course rubbing materials) and also how much weight yo...

Re: I need some help with this one, Her butt has major issue

One of the worse cases of compression combined with delamination that I have ever seen. No, it's not delamination. Delamination is when the silicone "peels" away from itself in small slivers or large chunks caused by the way the doll is made. This is probably a combination of compression ...

Re: Man spoted taking his RealDoll to the Zoo.

Seems like a hell of a lot of work - getting her ready, getting her in the car, getting her out of the car and into the store, navigate through the aisles (how can you really shop with her, where the hell would you put your merchandise you want to purchase at, on her lap?), then getting her back in...

Essentially none. The elements are very tiny in the Sinthetics - they heat the entries only.

Re: So, tell me again why there isn't a sticky about scams?

I think it should be generally stated that alibaba is a site for scam artists. It recently came to Sinthetics' attention that there are sellers using their photos as well as those of other US makers. Apparently someone is also supposedly offering a Sinthetic on iOffer but again that's a scam. It's a...
