Total 3D from one portrait+Photography perfected

In the early 80's I got my ex gf to let me take pictures of her so I could sculpt her face to make a doll. I recently decided to use photogrammetry (Agisoft Photoscan) to make a 3D mesh and print her face. From that I'd make a mold and cast her in silicone. Seems I don't have enough pictures of high enough quality to get useful results. But I found this- I think it means I will be able to 3D PRINT HER FRIKIN face in the near future with what I have.

.... Just ONE photograph, is turned into 3D, and her face becomes viewable from any angle, as if the picture was taken with thousands of cameras, or a moving video camera. It's like I am back in her apartment in 1983
Another thing- in the pictures I took, portraits from a few feet away.. she looks terrible, which has always been confusing and depressing, since I always thought she was beautiful. But, as soon as this program converts the picture, she looks beautiful again! Even without all the added camera angles, this process makes 2D portraits look lame and wrong. I'm seeing new I dunno, 3D 2D pics of her that all look like her when the original photos didn't! I'm 64, I've seen a few things invented in my time, ...this one takes the cake... by the Ocean

Photogrammetry is awesome now that we have the tech to utilize it. I hope you can turn the face to a doll face after all these years.

I was just looking at a YouTube about Autodesk Remake, a photogrammetry app. that requires many photos.

I can see how using a single photo can be helpful for producing a new head now.

Hey Deck, thanks for posting - that's very interesting technology indeed!
It does an amazing job from one picture. Unfortunately though the .obj output is too rough to be usable for much.

Another fun thing to try is a program called FaceGen which can work with one photo but 2 photos (front and side) are better.
It's not automatic, you have to place some markers on the photos in the program but it's really easy to do. They have free demos you can try out and the output can be 3d printed.

With the modeller version you can also add expressions.
I tried it with Angie and it actually worked pretty well. :)

Got to thank you a lot!, MannnequinFan. I really scored with facegen.com. Nailed her with the trial version using 3 photos, imported that into the Home version ($70) Now to get her printed. Will have to do a little work on her nose, but the overall everything is killer. ... So I've pretty much arrived!!
