I'm getting ready to buy my first doll, a DS163, and I thought id ask about the skeleton:

I'm buying for play and companionship, not photography, so I was originally planning on loose joints; however, after watching the videos on DS-store's site, the back looks really wobbly! I was thinking about asking for all loose joints except for the neck, back, and hips.

My intent is to simplify playtime, but also allow her to sit up on her own with good posture, and maybe cross her legs like a lady? I really have no practical experience here, so I thought an expert could chime in with an opinion or advice... assuming that it's even possible to order a hybrid of joints like this?

Actually, somebody here did order a doll recently that had a mixture of tight and loose joints, and wrote at least one thread about it. I can't remember who it was, but it was only a few months (if not weeks) ago. From memory, he got loose arms and legs, but a tight neck, but somebody else might remember more. I think it was a 170, and it was his first doll.

If the hips are loose, she'll likely resist doggy position since silicone tends to rebound to its cast shape.

The 163 has a fantastic figure I'm confident you'll be delighted with.

Another good reason for tight hips is so she can hold her legs elevated during missionary. With floppy legs, she'll likely be like a lady who's just downed a half gallon of Seagrams VO, sans the barfing--thank goodness. I also recommend a tight neck.

Please know that these would be personal preferences.

Well, I learned a lot already. I had thought loose was always better for play, now I see that's not necessarily true...

Since I want her to be able to sit up like proper lady, now I'm thinking all tight joints except for the arms & shoulders. The loose arms just seem more natural & "alive" in the videos. And I see that tight legs might be more fun for play, like @obin was saying More advice is always welcome! Thanks again so far.

That seems like a good call.

For reference if you order a loose setup the neck and wrist will be still stiff.
