What is it ?

My Chinese doll came with what looks like a 6" long, clear, soft, tube.
It is filled with some kind of gel and has a small silver metal disc floating around inside.
It is rounded at each end, one end smaller than the other. About 1" tapering to 1/2".
What is it for ?

It's a
Sodium acetate Heating pad. Just flex a small small metal disk to initiate crystallization and plug into into the insert to warm it.

I meant to ask,
Are they re-useable ?
How many times can these heat things be used ?
Never seen such a thing before.
Wonder if I can get a larger version to keep my dogs kennel warm on winter nights ?
He has a heat pad I put in his bed that you warm in the microwave. This would be much easier.
