The "cheers" symbol is now being debated as "The Great Australian Salute" (or just written "cheers"), in favor of our original Great Australian Salute, which was basically waving flies away from our face.
I vote for cheers.

Anung & ARK ANGEL,

Thanks for sharing those great stories with us. That Wedge is some bird!! Didn't realize that they are quite that big.

netwit, I'm jealous also...lol

Dees Man, That is an awesome picture. Perfect shot of him, I'd frame that one. If I saw him coming at me, I think I would shit my pants!!

back many years ago when I was posted in Perth (on the other side of the country) I used to regularly do the Perth to Sydney Nullabor run when my GF (now ex wife  ) was still in the East. my record was 37 hours with a co driver...LOL, but then relaised I should do stop overs and actually enjoy the trip rather than pretending it was an enduro 24 hour race....LOL...anyhow...point is there is a small roadhouse motel at a place called Cocklebiddy just after the nullabor travelling back west (just before you hit the 110 mile dead straight unrestricted stretch to Broodabilla) ....called Wedgetail Inn

Image

, and they have a wedgetail rescue and wildlife refuge for these birds that generally misjudge the 100 mile per hour road trains and get clipped.....

more about it here...

So if ever down under and doing the big drive, a good over nighter for the run into Perth. Some great cave diving there to!...but it is literally remote!

Image

and if you time your trop right you may run across OlmanOz's gal Chloe, Gunny SGT Rama and 3pio in there hunt for Ted hints there too... http://www.dollforum.com/forum/viewtopi ... 2#p1037392

Geez 38 hours is express time, you must have been flyin, many guys did that run one up, before they clamped down on log books and introduced fatigue management.
I didn't like the drive myself, I soon went North west, Gascoin, Pilbara, Kimberlies, only 18 to 22 hours to Port headland, 5 more to Telfer, road train times though, some of those back roads to (from) Capricorn are rough and narrow, passing 3 trailers causes a huge visibility issue, not to mention cutting corners or passing 5 trailer ore trucks, yikes! the corrugations wore out the ass of a couple eskys and an Enegl fridge over the years, lol.
Did stop at the Wegtail to check it out, no cave diving though (schedules to keep), great burgers but personally wouldn't recommend for overnight, I normally don't stop coming back west after Ceduna till Noresman, the trip from Perth to Sydney was bout 45 hours all toll on a milk run (not actual milk just truckie lingo for stops along the way), with 6-7 hrs sleep.
This is my old rig.

No Need for a new topic .

Happy Australia Day Mates!

Even our race cars now this one...only in Australia lads (for now anyhow)

I spent a few hours down at my local Central coast beach today for Australia Day.

Gee times have changed. Barely heard a word of English spoken in 3 hours. We are indeed multicultural now.

So I better include these versions as well

and off course got to remember the original peoples

I thin that kind of covers it.

Yes...Mick probably not the best tourism ambassador we ever had, but the two Wolf Creek films and two TV series are must watch viewing...as not is just the plot and the story and suspence thrilling...the cinematography of capturing a lot of Australia is sensational. Brilliant camera work and editiing in them.

Anyhow..here is how Comedian Hamish Blake does it...

For those permitted to cross state borders  ...for those that can not...get the Lamb cooking

I love the full version of that
