Electric Blankets ?

Post by Iceman707 »

Someone posted about about an electric blanket to warm up TPE dolls, is this ok? I would not want to risk damage, as TPE can get cold in these winter days....

A tad expensive, but won't melt and it does a good job warming up your doll. Big enough to wrap a 155cm doll in.

I bought the full size and also the color is doll friendly

It takes 30 to 60 minutes to warm the doll depending on her original temperature

I prefer soft fuzzy jammies myself. I put my doll on soft fuzzy jammies and she stays nice and warm.

Your doll keeps her warmth for quite a while after slow heating with an electric blanket. The sensation is very realistic and great for cuddling.

Windave, what have you been doing with my doll? How do you know she keeps her warmth after slowing heating her with a blanket. While I agree with sensation is very realistic, you need to stay away from other's dolls! :haha4: :haha4: :haha4:

Is it safest to put your doll under a blanket and put the electric blanket on top of that?

In addition to subcom117's question, what material should I buy the blanket in? I understand to only use light-side colors.

This is a good question, and very important to not damage your doll!

When I first got my Viola doll I laid her directly on top of the blanket. The heating wires left marks that ended up being permanent.
So yes, definitely put enough padding between your doll and the electric blanky.

One other think to think about is TPE seems to gas off a lot more when heated so if anyone has had a reaction to the smell it will likely flare up even more.

The blanket that I posted a link to above is tan/beige so it won't stain your doll. Also, the heat is very gently and has not harmed my doll at all (in fact, I don't think it could even get hot enough to hurt it). It does feel like the blanket builds up heat if it is bunched up, so watch out for hot spots and I personally check on her every 15 to 30 minutes (having only used the blanket a half a dozen times, still very cautious). I do like how well it warms her up...

I just lay on top of mine for about 5 minutes; does the trick.

I have the fleece electric blanket under a flannel fitted sheet and the doll is on top of that with another flannel sheet over her and then a blanket over that. I turn on the blanked to a setting of 4/5 about 1/2 an hour before bed and it warms her up pretty well. I can still feel some cold spots but it isn't bad. This way, I don't feel the wires in the blanket either and it feels more even.

Thank you Tman2016 I got the blanket you recommended. I can tell it's going to work great, unfortunately I'm just waiting for my Natasha. Chloe is for sale and all boxed up....

I know this is an old post but I wanted to ask you something. I purchased the same blanket and was wondering, how do you use the blanket on your doll? Do you wrap her completely in it with the wires making contact all around? It has 10 temp settings, Which setting do you use? What position do you have the doll in?

My electric blanket was directly on top of the mattress, then the flannelette sheet with the doll on top of that and covered with a quilt/duvet
The blanket had a range of 9 settings, used 4 or 5, depending on how cold it was
Usually would be warming all afternoon

Did try a heating pad on max, this is what happened at about 80°C

I sleep hot so enjoy an ice cold tpe doll ice bed... but a suggestion would be to look into a hot air blanket or bed warmer. I would think using hot air vs direct heating elements would be safer and more effective.
