After cutting into Lila's calf and removing her broken shin bone/tube, I have discovered something new about Lila.

Per DS Dolls, Lila is obsolete ... well, her skeleton is obsolete and replacement/repair parts are no longer available.

So .... the replacement/repair parts I received from DS Dolls do not fit nor work with her skeleton design.

On the other hand, the parts I received reflect a very nice upgrade in the DS145's skeleton design ... very cool, but unfortunately not usable nor adaptable to Lila's skeleton.

I will be taking the original broken "bone" pieces to a local welding shop and have the "bone" rebuilt and reinforced so it will never break again. I also need to find a compatible nylon washer to replace a cracked one in the ankle joint ... no big deal.

Anyway ... I will have a full repair tutorial for posting after all repairs are complete.

Howdy All!

I had hoped to have better news about Lila's current status. Unfortunately I don't.

With Karrot's assistance, we have brainstormed a very viable, reliable and robust solution to Lila's broken bone. I hope to have good news to share in the next few days and Nina hopes to have her sister back in full recovery mode by this weekend. If all goes as planned (I probably just jinxed myself DAMMIT ) Lila should be recovered and back in front of the camera by next week ... maybe a bit sooner if all goes smoothly. <knock><knock> (on wood)

that is very sad news. Since Leonie has the same 2015 body, I also will not get repair parts any more

Remember that all the parts from Leonies repair are still available,so if something goes wrong with the repair I will be happy to help out.
What are the dimensions of the missing washer? I have outer diameter 22mm, 8mm hole and 2.5 mm thickness left over. No problem to send it to you if needed.

Anyway good luck with your further repair and I hope Lila will be all well again soon.

It's a bit of a shock to hear that DS consider her obsolete and don't keep spares, that's progress for ya'.

We wish you great skill and a little luck with the repairs and to Lila a speedy recovery.

Yes, it's terrible that DS has vacation at the moment. Thank to the chinese new year you have to wait for your parts. Don't think to much about it, Von!
You cannot do anything at the moment.

Aw man, sorry to hear that buddy! I was actually hoping to hear some good news about Lila... Oh well I'm sure you will have her right as rain soon enough. And although the replacement parts you received are not adaptable to the old design. It is good to hear that you have the ability & tenacity to get the job done... Anyways here's looking toward brighter days when Lila is back in action... Get well soon Lila!!!

After running around town this morning I was able to find the NEW shop that my favorite machine shop (been in business over 70 years ... LOTS of experienced people there) moved to and dropped off Lila's "bone" to be fixed and reinforced. Lila's "bone" should be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon or early evening.

Yeah, I little bit sad that DS did not have NOS (new old-stock) parts available BUT ... the new knee design looks much more durable and smooth operating, even though it is incompatible with our older skeletons, so new doll owners will have a much better skeleton design in their dolls then we have.

Keep all your old doll parts in case new parts are not available or compatible!

I sent you a PM with washer dimensions and a few other topics we can discuss.

Hiya Mondoon and 'Pants!

Even though Lila (and Nina) have been deemed obsolete and (some) replacement parts are no longer available, I have high hopes that Lila will be back in action in better than new condition very soon. Was able to drop off her broken "bone" this morning and it will be rebuilt and reinforced and ready by tomorrow evening (maybe a bit sooner).

Lila should be back and fully recovered by this upcoming weekend and she may be ready for a little photo shoot too!
