I've been using Wallmart brand Equate, USP grade mineral oil, labeled as intestinal lubricant in the pharmaceutical dept. Any suggestions for a better source would be welcome. besides, what is the end results of using poor quality oil? Seems my tpe tears too easily compared to the mouth on a WM doll head i got.

According to reports, most mineral oils work. I have a listing I copied from the expired sextoyscientist site that I have to find. I'll post that later. He also explained specific gravity and other attributes to consider. I remember that he explained that the use of some mineral oils renders poor results, and that there are mineral oils that don't work well enough to bother with.

I have yet to mess with anything. I plan to, though.

That very article u posted is what kickstarted my interest in making my own UR3(TPE) i was always amazed with the stuff, now need to make it more tear resistant, being i love woman that open wide, like my doll to have that durable feature without becoming Heath Ledger

Did you find the information I messaged you helpful?

Since I don't have the facilities to set up a work station, I'll be very interested in seeing your reports.

I barely have space for my stupid coffee maker.

Just made another mast on the 4th, and seems to improve with every attempt, softer and stretchier. just the right amount of oil, and found the sweet spot on my stovetop burner setting, just takes awhile for it to melt

I have not done crafting, but I have a friend using TPE for 3D printing. Its just a vague idea.

Awesome to see this thread active again!

As far as the polymer goes, there are many types, and many molecular weights in each type. They all behave very differently, and mixing them in different percentages can do interesting things such as make the resulting gel more flexible, more tear resistant, less springy (I suspect SEPS helps modulate this), etc. Low molecular weight polymers tend to create a weaker gel, like is used in gel candles. I was primarily using SEBS earlier in this thread. Fleshlight, at least initially, used a mix of high molecular weight SEBS and SEPS polymers, and some additives like microcrystaline wax and mineral salts to control tack (check the patent for specifics and percentages). Who knows what they use now though.

Unfortunately, the higher the molecular weight of the polymer, the higher the gel dissolution temperature becomes, and the higher the viscosity of the melted liquid. things can get hard to work with quickly. In my undocumented later experiments I switched to stirring with a Talboys Model 409 Heavy Duty Overhead Mixer (Overkill, more akin to a drill than a stirrer tbh). The higher viscosity liquid also trapped a lot of air during the initial melting/stirring so it needed to be degassed with a vacuum chamber. One thing I never tried, which would be interesting would be to do the melting in a pressurized environment, which might help control the degradation of the mineral oil and allow reaching higher temps for longer periods of time.

I kind of got off track, testing many combinations of polymers at various percentages and molecular weights. Never did give the mold stuff another try...
Have been way too busy recently, but eventually I'll get back to it!

It's good to see you're still working in this, Xama.

Thank you for your very knowledgeable, interesting report.

That's a very expensive, powerful mixer. 1/4 HP. 8O

Yeah, ebay to the rescue! It's amazing what you can get for next to nothing sometimes... In any case, if you guys have any questions I may be able to answer them.
