Stupid me

Post by skyknight »

I did something really stupid.

Did a testfit of this nice black dress on Sakura and decided to leave it on until I made some photos.
But I didn't get around making photos for a while and kind of forgot to take it off to wash it before she can wear it for a longer period of time.
Now after some days she got some weird looking purplish tanlines.
I washed the shit out of that cloth, untill the water didn't color anymore, but the damage was already done.
Does anybody know a trick to get color stains out of fabric dolls?

Sorry to hear this skyknight. Did you find a thread here about removing stains on TPE ...if Sakura is TPE.

Sorry this is so vague and I can't find it right now, but he did have success. I'm a newbie. Still learning my way around here. Wish you well.

Best,
Mark

Acetone works on some fabric stains. Have you asked Joy and Anna?
笑. It's good for you.

Sorry to hear that, I think this is the first time I've heard this happen with a cloth doll.
That dress must've had a lot of excess die (probably similar to a pair of jeans I purchased, it stained even me by simply touching it).

No, Sakura is a fabric Anime girl(plushi).
Most ppl in BD section of the forum already know, but since you're new you are forgiven.
I think with TPE it's easier to get out.
I should have known it better, since all the ppl kept talking about dark clothes stains on all kinds of dolls.
Already tried rubbing her with a cloth with warm water and soap, but didn't do anything.

No, haven't asked the nice girls at BD yet. Could try that acetone, it's something I do have at home!

I no longer own an Anime doll, but IIRC, do they have a zipper in the back where you can remove the doll's skin? If you can de-skin the doll, then it might make the process easier and the washing machine might become an option. If you do put the skin through a washing machine, I recommend placing the skin inside one of those protective lingerie bags before you run it through a cycle.

She has a zipper in the back but the skin is sewn to the doll on various spots and I don't want to change that!

If you go to the Teddy Babe forum, you will find care, cleaning and maintenance tips for fabric dolls.
http://www.dollforum.com/forum/viewtopi ... 35&t=21466

You might want to try using a sponge or soft brush application of Resolve stain remover, Tide stain stick, or maybe even an upholstery cleaner.

I hope, literally, that everything comes out in the wash. :D

What I do and has always worked for me up to now is take a piece of white soap that is already rounded but still long so you can hold it, in the shower when you've made her wet with warm water; press the soap into the wet skin and start rubbing up and down, rinse and repeat if necessary.

Vanish Stain Remover or Upholstery cleaner has been very successful for some Teddy babe owners I know, you may find some white vinegar works as well, as many people recommend soaking clothes in that to release excess dye.

Hop you get something to work on your baby...

Dunno about vinegar, I use it to fixate colors in clothes.

Sorry, I can't take my fabric doll into the shower. Don't have the possibility to get her completely dry(how long would that take with nothing but a small hairdrier?) afterwards and don't want to risk catching molds.

Today I found something at a shop I might try, because it's similar to some of the things mentioned in the Teddy Babe section.

The stain will fade with time. I had that problem but the stains are gone now and I did not do anything to remove them. It may be depend on what coloring the stain is made from whether it will go or stay.
