Body 9 breast sagging/tearing issues

Post by seahunter »

Tax season has been very good to me this year. Thanks to all of the great information I have found in the doll forum, not to mention all of the lovely pictures in the doll album, I have finally decided to make a purchase. I have been lusting for a realdoll since I first discovered them in 1997. How ever my concern is breast sagging/tearing issues with the new body 9 dolls. Having worked for an auto dealership I know that you never ever buy the first year of a new car body style. Hence the term “RECALL”.

Now if you have a problem with a car due to a design flaw, you simply drive back to the dealership and have the problem fixed. With a “Realdoll” this simply is not an option. Not unless Matt decides to open up a repair facility, and supply you with a rental doll while yours is in the shop. Who knows maybe he would even throw in a bottle of “new doll” air freshener.

Until that day comes, I will continue to do my research. I may just give in to my cautious side and settle for a tried and true smaller chested doll, but damn it those tits are calling me! I understand that the silicone for the dolls changed to a softer formula this year, and was hoping to get some feedback from anyone that has purchased a larger breasted body 5, or body 9 doll after January 2004.

I still have to work out some issues I have concerning shipping. And was wondering if anyone knew off hand If you can make arrangements to personally pick up your doll. I would only have to cross 1 state to get to California, and could easily make a round trip for less than the $450 shipping fee.

Once again I would like to give a special thanks to all of the doll album members. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed, and is much appreciated.

Keep up the great work.

I think what you mean is: you want to hear from someone who has had one delivered since then. Someone who has ordered since that time would be in the throes of dollwait and would not actually receive her for several weeks yet.

That said, the Dolls on Order page, aka the dollpipe, does not indicate any recent orders and/or deliveries of the big tit dolls, at least none where information was provided about it. No one has yet indicated a purchase of body 9 at all.

I think the doll known as Arabella Faximilli was delivered in February, but Silicophile droppped out of the forum long before that. He was one of those fire and forget instances, people who tell us about a doll purchase and put her in the dollpipe and then we never hear anything further.

Sure, several people have done that. However, bear in mind that part of the cost is the crate. You would not totally eliminate the 450 unless you did without that as well. Of course, in that case you can put her in a car seat and let her enjoy the scenery on the trip back.

Gee, there are lots of pictures outside the doll album. Don't you like any of those?

Thanks for the info. I forgot to even consider the cost of the shipping crate, and it's something that I would like to have.
I emailed the folks over at Abyss with some questions about the body 9 dolls. I'll post any news I recieve, along with future developments for those of you that are curious.

P.S. Yes, I do like other doll pics outside the doll album. Except any pics that deal with doll surgery. Though they are informative, they are also the stuff nightmares are made of. 8O

I remember something being mentioned by crazy Jose when He met with Matt at the AVN show that they use a stiffer gel and an internal support (internal mesh bra) to help prevent tears.

Carol was built in July '03 and I think Her boobs are too stiff so I guess I would not be thrilled with the B9's. (maybe they should rename it the B29 as those are certainly mega-ton warheads)

Since your that close to Abyss I would recommend a road trip before ordering then you could get some "hands on" inspection.

The bigger boobs are most likely a problem to make seamless with soft gel as they could distort inside the mold before pouring just from gravity. I've seen two dolls Matt had to sell as "seconds" because the gel shifted during pouring. Also why I think the first seamless B5's had the dowel rods in the gel. (Carol has these, Although I never got jabbed like FullBatman)
I suddenly realized I\'m living in a dollhouse!

As for picking up the doll to avoid shipping costs, I asked that question, and Abyss told me they would have to charge me California sales tax when I showed up to pick up the doll, which costs about as much as the shipping, so unless you're already living in California (in which case it makes sense to go pick the doll up), you're better off letting them ship it to you.

I also was interested in the body 9, being a big breast fancier. In January of this year I got to visit the Abyss Plant on a tour, and saw and felt two different body 9's (in addition to all the other bodies). Body 9's breasts seemed stiffer than other bodies, including big 34E's on body 5's, and Joey told me body 9's breasts were reinforced to prevent excessive sagging. Whether this is a mesh, like gortex, I don't know, but the breasts felt harder and has less "give" than other bodies. The older bodies in the showroom felt better than the new ones downstairs, and Matt has said they soften up with time (about a year or so), but I think those massive mammaries on 9 will always be sturdier than the other dolls.

In person I decided on a body 5 instead of 9 - the breasts on body 5 are also monstrous and stick out appealingly on a new body; with time, they sag downward to a more natural state, and felt softer and squishier than body 9's. I loved body 3 the best, but it was too heavy and too tall for me to deal with. I love the waist, hips and butt on body 2, but really wanted the big breasts: that left body 5 and 9, and 9 weighs more
(and weight is a serious consideration in choosing your doll, you want to be able to move and position her without pulling a back muscle).

Body 9 seemed a little too cartoonish to me in person, and the one goal I believe Matt shoots for is reality in his torso designs: body 5 is also abnormally large breasted, but is more natural looking, and I think that is the secret to the beauty of an Abyss doll: they look like real women.
So until they make a body 2 with 34E's, body 5 is the one I will order once they implement the promised newer model weight reduction.

Take a tour if you are that close Seahunter. The tour costs $100, but they will credit that towards the doll purchase. You could place your order while you are there, and make a really informed decision about what body face and options you want. It sounds like it would be well worth it to take the trip and decide for yourself about the feel of the Body 9 breasts. You may find in person that one of the other bodies is more appealing to you. It would be a major bummer if you turned out to not like the Body 9 breasts after you got her, since $6000+ is a lot of money.

If you plan on dressing your doll in much more than lingerie keep in mind that those big breasted dolls are very hard to find clothes for. Dresses that fit their breasts are going to fit completely wrong in the waist and hips and dresses that fit their waist and hips won't fit those breasts. Even the spandex dresses that you see buxom strippers and porn stars wearing are probably custom tailored to fit their custom racks and standard waists and hips. If all you plan on her wearing for the most part is lingerie where you can order separate tops and bottoms you probably won't have any trouble finding things that fit.

I know that when I pick Svetlana up from the front to hang her on a hook, I am very careful about her breasts, since they protrude and I worry about them sticking to me while her body slid down and possibly tearing where they meet the chest. They are probably a lot more durable than I worry about them being, but I am still very careful, moving her so as to minimize the chance of damaging her (I damaged her right ankle a (visibly unnoticeable) bit the first night I had her because I blundered with my storage solution and nearly wrecked her and myself discovering my blunder). The way the body 9 breasts protrude I would imagine it will be a bit more difficult to pick her up from the front because her boobs will get in the way. As heavy as she will be maneuvering her onto a hook holding her from the back might be a challenge. I would definitely make sure to have a good cartage solution built before getting her home, or you may have a heck of a time moving and storing her.

Finally keep in mind that even if you order today, it will be at least 3 months before they pour her into the mold. In the meantime we may hear some news on Body 9 durability or breasts. If you didn't like what you heard, and they haven't poured yet, you could always change what body you want. They call before they pour to arrange the final payment, so you will have one last chance in case you changed your mind.

Thanks guys! :D :D Your information and advice has been very helpful in furthering my doll purchasing decisions! I agree that a road trip to Abyss would be a good idea before committing to a body 9 doll. I did receive an email reply from Shelly at Abyss, and just to let you know she stated production time would be 18 weeks from time of payment received. (They must be busy) She also stated that the shipping crate is $250 if I wanted to pick up my "order" in person. On the downside however Kharma was absolutely correct about being charged the 7.75% CA sales tax. Thats over $465 + $250 for the crate! With that said I think I will make my order for "delivery" not "carry out".

I also asked Shelly about any extra manufacturing charges that I would incur for a body 9 doll, I remembered a time when the larger chested dolls were more expensive. Good news is there are none. FYI for those that didn't already know. Shelly also stated that they still have not had any reports of tearing or extensive sagging of the body 9 breasts. Good news all around.

One question I did forget to ask Shelly was about the shipping crate itself. I would like to know its dimensions and more important, its average weight. Inuyasha? It seems you have recently received a fully loaded crate. Do you remember what the actual shipping weight was?
Thanks again all! :!: :)

I don't have it handy, but I can check into it. My crate is sitting at a mini-storage, because my house doesn't really have the storage space for that big box without it being obvious that I have this big box, which might prompt someone to ask, what is that big box from the Abyss. To which I would have to reply, "It is Satan in the box...What else would come from the Abyss." Then I can watch the Catholics cross themselves, and the Baptists run in fear calling me a heathen... ... .

I think JR had some info on the crate at his website, but I may be getting that mixed up with someones pictures in the member gallery or the doll album. Take a good look through those and see if you spot that info. If you don't, let me know, and I will go visit my crate with my tape measure. The shipping labels are still on it, so I can get the weight with the doll in it.

A quick note on sales tax. I purchased a $2,000.00 digital camera from a friendly camera shop just across the state border. (10 miles away). I took the camera home with me. But a camera bag was sent UPS. The UPS packing slip listed the camera as well. Taxes "0".
I don't suggest Matt would do this, but you just never know. Your "Realdoll" could ship UPS in a 12"x12" box for a few bucks.

Thanks for the offer Inuyasha :!: but it won't be necessary to visit your storage. I was at the Realdoll website (again) and found this info in the FAQ's
"The crate is approximately 5'x2'x2' and weighs about 150 lbs when loaded" For some reason the crate looks wider to me than 2'

larryb22. Thanks for your suggestion, but there is no way im dismembering a $6000 Realdoll and cramming her into a 12" square box!

I have come to the conclusion that trying to save any money on shipping, would not be worth the risk of any dammage that the doll might receive due to improper shipping methods.

Larry's post indicated that the object purchased was not in the box at all. He hand carried it home. But the shipping list indicated it was. He was suggesting that Matt ship an empty box. No doll damage.

About the faq:

1. it is wildly out of date on many things
2. there are actually two doll crate sizes

The smaller dolls such as body 4 and body 2 have one crate size. The larger body 7 and body 3 dolls have another.

The faq hasn't been changed in years. Dolls are a little lighter now. I believe the weight listed on the box for Taze is 140.
