New Manufacturer Category Labeling

After considerable discussion with members and manufacturers we have made a change in the category labeling of doll makers.

Terms such as High End, Mid-Range and Lo-end are subjective and ambiguous. We have therefore opted to change our labeling to reflect the price ranges of the dolls, which is now reflected in our category titles.

We feel this better reflects the buying habits of our members.

We are still discussing how to qualify doll makers who have products in both price ranges.

Gents:
Rather than to label the different doll
makers as "High end, Mid range, Low end, etc"....how about dividing
the forum into "Inflatables, Vinyls, Plushies, Silicone dolls, etc!
Since most of the regular members already know the quality
differences, this would allow each individual to go directly to the
category they're most interested in and educate the "Newbies" as to
what's out there. This might also give us a better idea of where most
of the traffic is headed. Visitors could ramble through each category
to get an unobstructed view of what is available and read only the
reviews of that particular type of doll.

I dont see a problem the way is it.

What Don said is noble,
But how can you stick 1st pc (silicone dolls) and say dolls from china that are silicone (but are stuffed) into one lump bundle.

and put them in with the higher end dolls Like R/D P/B and Ruby It just dont seem right.

Why do you feel you need to change this now.??

Calling any doll Lo-end dont seem right but you changed that some time ago.

I think that Ruby13 has a valid point. This would allow us to see dolls be type. I still have trouble distinguishing between the different types.

To me, categorizing dolls by type makes more sense than categorizing them by price range. In some cases, it may actually increase a particular manufacturer's, or distributor's, exposure inasmuch as they offer more than one type of doll, and it would not be at the expense of those that only offer one type of doll.

Just my 2 bits. Feel free to give me change if it's not worth that much. :)

I like the idea of categories by type as well. Even though "silicone" can range from cheap or low quality to high quality, just as itsme was eluding to. So its tricky. I'd also like to see a Sticky/FAQ/whatever explaining the various types, and maybe some notes about just because its silicone (on the outside) doesn't mean its high end. And just because its fabric doesn't mean its low end. Theres also some mid-range (~$3000) that are made from surgical rubber, yet feel alot like silicone. I believe Hitdoll falls into that category.
So no matter what, it seems theres always exceptions to any type of organization. (shrug) Just dont know.

I agree with Itsme; It kind of works the way it is. And if it isn't broke, why fix it?

i'd have to say the type also,
and for the one's that fit in between, such as the mixed type or even the one's where they inflate and have the silicone for skin instead...

another thing of note, would be number of hole functions...
which is also one of the main deciding factors, that people look for...besides cost.

and just to note...
i think it's great how there's a section in there for accessory, such as the wig or clothes, like you've done.
that's part of why i joined...
along with the people and how i'd seen them treat each other.

Dont y'all wish the Forum would do this? It has been suggested so many times. I would love to be able to go straight through to silicone dolls
