Help !!

I am currently trying to prepare a doll that I haven't shown here before but it has 2 issues. One a leak which I shoudn't have too much problems patching as I did an identical seam in the same place on the other side.

The other problem is a crease or identation on the forehead. I have tried to massage, roll and pinch it out. But no luck so far, does anyone have any suggestions ?

Is it a plastic DiaoShi head and was the crease there on arrival day or has it appeared since unboxing? It might be worth posting a picture of the indentation to help with the suggestions.

My DiaoShi-made Chelsea head (DS8088) has no internal stuffing as I removed it, she's hollow. That means the head has no strength and will flex/wobble. I can push the plastic out from inside but no matter what I do, the mould defaults to the shape/structure it cooled in the factory. It just flexes back to how it was before I reshaped it. Bending her hollow foot even to 90 degrees leaves no trace of stress and just springs back to its normal shape.



The basic idea is to heat the plastic with hot air until it becomes soft enough to reshape and let it cool in its new form. A consumer hair dryer might not put out enough heat.

As for reshaping the thermoplastic, it will take some heat beyond 100C as these things are practically bomb-proof! I boiled Chelsea's foot in a pan of water and microwaved it too as an experiment and it made no difference. Heat-resistant hard plastic will burn before it melts but I assume you have the soft type. I have found that the soft plastic will damage with brute force and a sharp instrument regardless of the temperature.

Many of my plastic heads have slight dimples and I just accept it. One doll, Julia, has a ridge on the right side of her forehead but it's only visible using controlled lighting.

I felt like a monster, I practically drowned her and boiled her head in a basin of very hot water. The plastic softened a lot but it had little effect on the dent.This was all before I saw your suggestion. I will try this again. I have a small sink plunger, I will try that on her as well this time.

It is Late Entity, UK time. I will try the first suggestion tommorrow and I will let you know how it goes. This is a black doll so the dent does not show up too well on my phone camera.

I don't think boiling water will be hot enough to permanently reshape the thermoplastic. Note the temperature on the heat gun I posted although 550C would be way too extreme

You could consider inserting a strong metal rod through the holes where the hair is attached and try pushing the internal stuffing against the plastic from the inside if it is the same class of doll I am picturing. You could go one step further and make a small incision on the top of the head to gain access.

No problem with the lack of a photo. I'll be curious to hear the results. Good luck.

You're not a monster; I was thinking more along the lines of a hairdryer set on the low heat setting.

If you are new to reshaping plastic using extreme heat, at least practice on something cheap from the pound store or safe household waste, pop bottle for example

So I went and boiled her head again before I saw your other suggestions, and guess wot the dent was gone. It took two kettles of boiling water
in a basin to do it. My first attempt was just one kettle full of water.

Rihanna also has uneven boob's now. The rubber there is much softer than my other dolls. I can knead them back to how they should be but if she rests on them they lose their shape again.

I will add a few more pics of Rihanna in her original state here. She will return in her own post later.

I had to discard some photos even though this is a new phone. As before when you take close up photos there is a fish bowl distortion of the image.
