Affordable Stands for Heads -Idea

Post by Wolverine »

So I had this Idea pop into my head the other day, having been in the construction field,

Since EVERY doll accessory from wigs to powder, to stands, seems to cost so damn much,

Geez, I just paid $30 for a 10 oz bottle of powder,

Why not DIY it???

And

Then a few drywall screws into a block of wood, or any other creative ideas...Bam! Any Thoughts??

PVC pipe nipple was .49 cents, flange $3.49 each.

I really like the color of the base.

You just convinced me, I would have to do about ten like that, it's my project for this weekend!

This is meant for heads with the quick release pin screwed into the head. The threading in the screw on socket in the heads is very likely NOT going to fit, as they have chosen an odd size, and this may not have an equivalent in plumbing pipes.

This is the size of the screw on head pin, I had to find the nut for one, so I could repair the cross threading on a neck pin for my WM 170H

I chose a 4 inch PVC nipple because some metals over time have a reaction to a dissimilar metal ie: head pin aluminum(?), to galvanized nipple pipe.

I bought FOUR setups for under $20 at Menards. The Flange base is black pipe, or gas pipe flange. Silver ones are galvanized.

I JUST remembered, you can just get a bigger setup to fit the screw on head pins. Take your pin to Menards, and see what size, ie: 3/4 or 1" the pin will fit into.
Getting the plastic pipe also means it can't damage your threads on the head pin in any way 8)

If you are unsure, on my next visit there, I will check and see. 8)

So if you want stands for the screw on head “pin” then move up to 3/4 pipe, and flange

As you can see it JUST doesn’t fit into the half inch.

I prefer the 4 inch PVC pipe, because it's a lower center of gravity, I don't have to screw them down, the heads are well balance on them, I do like "Leatherman's" tall stands, they are beautiful, I just don't prefer them that tall. 8)
