What causes this?

Post by Aerith Died »

Had 3 tpe dolls. The majority of the wear occurs on the nose as below. It’s especially bad in dolls with pink tone because the result makes them yellow and discolor... what is it and how do I prevent it

Hi, have you by any chance cleaned the area a lot with baby oil? I have one of my gals with something similar on a patch of one of her cheeks and I've often thought it was down to my over use of baby oil to clean makeup off a few years ago before I learned to use oil more sparingly.

I usually only use oil twice a year. I can’t figure out why just the nose yellows and peels :(

Would over powdering with corn starch do this? I don’t understand why my pink skin dolls yellow though. Also they are in my bedroom which is dark and has blackout curtains.

There has not been many posts of this type of damage, even from owners who've had their dolls for many years
Either the blend material is deteriorating, an environmental thing happening in your area or some combination thereof

Sorry to hear about your problem. Hmm what do you use to clean the doll heads? Maybe what you're using is too rough and since the nose is very uneven it prematurely wears out the area before smoother areas. I use a wet smooth microfiber cloth suitable for glasses or a camera lens to clean my doll.
I dunno Im pretty much guessing lol. It is a very odd thing to happen though.

Could be done by rubbing when cleaning maybe what your cleaning it with isn’t mild enough. I would try a little vasoline using a clean finger you might try patting to clean and dry it. It also could be dry residue like corn starch. Also need to be careful it’s not oil from your own skin and hand lotions. Also maybe the doll is too close to a heater vent? Never seen this happen but just giving you my 2 cents.... let us know if you find out so it can help others from having this happen...

Normally too much powder, or the surface was wet/oily causes this

Beard stubble? Ami has patches like this usually where my face has been.
“We’ve always been vulnerable. Every day you go out the house, you’re vulnerable. You’re inches from diving under a bus or somebody hitting you over the head for your money. Nothing is safe. Everybody seems to be obsessed with safety. Well, nothing is safe, okay? Nothing! Make the most of it while you’re safe now. You won’t be tomorrow, maybe.”
