Repairing my SM 136CM Elf TPE

Post by agapito_rascaculo »

Forum

My SM 136CM Elf TPE broke all her fingers off. Essentially all the copper wires broke right at the junction with the metal piece that holds them in place and rotates from her arm. I LOVE this doll, she is my therapy doll - absolutely adorable face and super sexy curvaceous body. I decided to repair her. It took many tries (6 to be exact) for a final solution that so far is working. I had to design and 3D print a PLA part to hold her finger wires, had to remove ALL the old wires (that was so stressful), and replace with new copper wire.

Here are some photos of the final product. This weekend I will work on smoothing her had scars even more - they are good right now but I am a perfectionist :)

Enjoy, questions and comments are encouraged.

THIS method that is posted on youtube using aluminum wire DID NOT work for me. I used DJ Weld and glued all these twisted wires into the slot. The fingers broke off within a few days of very gentle use.

The trick is to reduce stress at the pivoting point. My method of using extra long single copper wires and twisting at the end of the wrist until length is attained works much better. The twist to adjust the wire length provides much needed strain relief. The part that I designed and 3D printed pressure fits on the hollow rectangular metal channel shown on this photo.

Yes, copper it is coated. I used the jeweler type, 20 gauge, single stranded. It is very flexible and provides OK force. My girl's hands are very beautiful and delicate. She cannot hold a glass full of water, but at least the fingers are not dangling...
