Oh guys this thread is hilarious! I would like to point a different perspective on the topic, it came out to be very interesting to me! As I read through the thread I can see that the majority of you guys report fishy smell as the regular scent of a vagina. This shocked me at the beginning since I never experienced this kind of smell in any of my girlfriends or other occasional dates with other girls. I thought that the nationality/ethnicity could be determinant in this sense. The kind of food you normally eat, alcohol, smoke, life habits, cleaning routines, etc. For example I am from Italy and I guess that most of you know that here we have the bidet. Girls usually wash their intimate parts quite every time they go to the toilet (at least when they are at home) with the bidet so they usually smell clean there. After a day out or after a workout in my experience it totally depends on how often they wash themselves and also on the food they eat. When a vagina smells of fish it usually is a sign of something not going well there (candida albicans). What do you think about this?

I always heard of the phrase "fishy fanny" and the related jokes etc.

From experience with 2 biological girlfriends and numerous visits to my local brothel (condoms are mandatory there), with about 10 different women, so called "fishy fanny" is a lot rarer than I was originally lead to believe.

If I recall, I've only encountered 3 at most 4 vaginas that smelled like fish, giving a percentage that do, of about 25%-33% at most. Also, the fish like smell didn't happen until the lady had the female equivalent of an erection. This of course leads me to believe now that it's a component of the natural vaginal lubrication that smells like fish.

I just want to clarify that I'm not a gynaecologist or a urologist or any other kind of ologist that specialises in female genitalia. But I have heard that a vagaina that constantly smells of fish can be caused by Bacterial Vaginosis or some other Bacterial imbalance within the vagina.

I have also read that the compound Trimethylamine is responsible for the smell of fish and it is present in naturally produced vaginal lubricating fluid.
