Got our first TV in the early 50's. It featured a state of the art 11 inch round screen, in a cabinet the size of a washing machine and took 2 men to lift! Ah... 3 whole TV stations and glorious black and white. Life was good.

Neat TV trivia. Farnsworth also manufactured radios in the 30s & 40s. I restored one of the 2 Farnsworths I own. The audio is quite good. Philo sold his line to Capehart, which was a high end radio/audio outfit in those days and their tube gear is legendary. 8)

Yuppers, TV's were absolute TANKS up until flat screens. One thing i realized is that I grew up with TV "on the floor", so to speak. Early tv's were small enough to be on a stand, but we had a beast 19" console that we literally watched "down on". lol. Today we all put our TVs at or above our eyesight line.

Dang, that looks like the Magnavox my mom had. Our first color set. Damn thing cost $800 too! More than a month's salary for most at the time. I always refereed to it as my first car, because we used the money I was saving to get it. Funny, we did look down at TV's back then and to this day, my big screen is set just 2 feet off the floor. LOL

Hello AtomicPunk and Alita,

thank you very much for interesting facts!
I did not know so many things about televisions^^
I like picture in chair with cat very much!
Alita has very nice hair, cute thigh socks and I like her bracelet and necklace with pearls.
My doll has also necklace with pearls^^ Maybe we make shopping in same store!

Love it, Alita! My parents had one of those gigantic console TV's dating from the 60s with a whopping 11 or so channels. But, in it's defense it also had a record player, LP storage, and a pull out bar complete with ice bucket and rotary bottle holder. The beast was something like the size of a Cadillac Eldorado. I was the remote. Then, with the advent of cable in the early 70s we suddenly had around 100 channels including the BBC. No, not that BBC... the British Broadcasting Network. My dad and I spent our quality time watching great old shows like Black Adder, Faulty Towers, Ripping Yarns, and Monty Python's Flying Circus. Since my entry into adulthood, I've only ever owned a TV while I was married. In fact, during the courtship phase of both and in other relationships it was one of the first questions I was ever asked: "Dude, you don't have a TV!?" :haha4:

I remember those days 🤣 when tvs and radio/record players were legit full sized furniture that took a couple people to move around.
:haha4:

Cheers

Operation Christmas Child
-----------

Bonjour mes amis! We're still here.

Celebrating November with our annual gift drive for Operation Christmas Child. Each year we fill a few shoe boxes full of goodies for children around the world. A perfect opportunity to let a child know they are loved. Our spider monkey plushies can't wait to meet their new friends.

A perfectly silly fox blanket. You know Alita had to score this one.
