Private Messages Help

I have tried searching but "Private Message" seems to be in about every single post here.

I don't fully understand the user interface of the private message area. Some of my messages sent as replies sit in my outbox folder indefinitely, some only for a short period of time, and some are just in my sent box.

On my main messages screen, some of my messages have a grey box next to them but some don't. I thought this was a sign of read messages or not but I have replies on some messages that were read that have these grey boxes but I have messages that haven't had replies that have this grey box as well.

The notifications take up to two hours for me to receive an email that I have a new private message, is this normal?

Not sure what you mean by "private message seems to be in every single post here". Are you referring to the "PM" option at the end of a user's post? That will be there on every post to allow you to contact a user.

Your sent messages will show up in your "outbox" until they have been read by the other person.

The grey box should be beside all of your messages. It's how you delete a message.

You will receive a notification that a message has been received at the exact moment the other user clicks "submit" and their message gets sent off.

What I meant by my first statement, was that when I was attempting to search the forums for help, the keyword "private messages" brought up an incredible amount of unrelated posts.

As for the grey boxes, this is what I mean,



When I hover over them, I get no context menu, clicking on them does nothing as they aren't clickable, and right clicking just opens the image file in a new tab.

Ah, I see. A few extra keywords may or may not help in finding something, but I don't think there would be any information on the grey boxes. Don't know the purpose of those grey boxes, but a moderator should have more info on this. I get this when I hold down my finger on the grey box.

OK, So

Outbox is PMs you have sent, that have not been read by the recipient as yet.
Sent is PMs you have sent that have.
Inbox is your read and unread PMs and they have yellowish folder icon on the LHS for the read ones, and a bluey grey folder icon for the unread ones.
