Cutie Contest: Poey vs. Chloe - part 1
Looking at the cute girl I wondered how Chloe would perform. Chloe is a bit smaller than Poey, but she has similar charms and is cute as hell. It was obvious to start a Cutie Contest of our probably two cutest dolls. This is what came out of Poey vs. Chloe - part 1.
Here's the pose and the basic setting:
Poey:

Re: Cutie Contest: Poey vs. Chloe - part 1
Chloe:
Chnaged pose (on holder), default JM Doll wig, different outfit:
However, when putting her on the pedestal, I discovered that Chloe could not mimic Poey's pose; she can not bend in the lumbar the same way as Poey can. She is still looking quite cute, the the clear winner of the first part of our little Cutie Contest is Poey.
But Chloe is already asking for a rematch with a different pose…

Nice match...Dollstudio wrote:However, when putting her on the pedestal, I discovered that Chloe could not mimic Poey's pose; she can not bend in the lumbar the same way as Poey can...
Poey also has finger wires, so for posability she wins for sure, but as far as cuteness go i'm for Chloe.
The face sculpt is classically beautiful, she can safely stand a chance against many of the high-end BJD...

Thanks, I'll tell her that It's probably the reason why she keeps bugging me for a rematch. Chloe is usually so confident abour her cuteness and seemed kind of depressed that she couldn't sit like Poey…Rick_Deckard wrote:Nice match... If we ignore Chloe's (optional) love doll capabilities, another contender might be the Lovely Doll SFD Anime line from Lovely Doll (Dalian, mainland China). They're in the same size range (1/3 scale), have a poseable finger option, and are made of solid silicone. I made an introduction of their smaller 1/6 scale counterparts a while ago and was quite impressed.
Wes (from Doll House 168, Taiwan) does not like their Anime faces and the silicone they are using; the poseable fingers are as delicate as Poey's, but they're still quite nice. Though I agree with Wes to some degree about the faces, I think they are the closest competitors to a BJD. Also worth mentioning, the Lovely SFD Body line allows to combine them with 1/3 scale head sculpts from DD and SD.

Though, the "Lovely" dolls have a wire skeleton, they are nicely poseable, but kind of fragile as well. A proper cutie contest probably would be to run them against Danny Choo's Mirai Suenaga, an excellent BJD. But I wouldn't want to run a contest of Chloe against a real BJD. I'm afraid she could only score with her face, her seamless neck and her silicone body, but not so much with her posing capabilities.

Interesting. 2:1 for Chloe, she will be so contented to hear thisrubherkitty wrote:I think Chloe is cuter. If you put dark eyes and wig on her she would really stand out. That first wig adds nothing to her looks IMO.
Those are the current wig selections from Doll House 168. You like the darker ones better (DHJ-01, DHJ-05, DHJ-06)? I'll tell them!
The two-sided eyes were supposed to be brown on one side and blue on the other. Another topic to discuss with them. Yes, I'd like to see dark eyes on her as well…

Re: Cutie Contest: Poey vs. Chloe - part 1
I just finished recalculating the pricing with Wes; from now on, we'll be shipping with DHL Express and make use of the same scary volume discounts we started to employ for Doll Sweet, Maidlee Doll, and Ruby 13.
That allows us now to give Chloe away for €749.00 (including customs, taxes, and free shipping to most locations in the EU) respectively US$625.00 (excluding customs and taxes, but including free shipping) to locations in the U.S.
Cheers, Sandro

The big eyes just make her look a little more fantasy type doll.
Does she have elf ears? She would make a cute elf.

She has a removable head, but Wes never sculpted alternative head sculpts. So it's kind of a lost chance.rubherkitty wrote:The big eyes just make her look a little more fantasy type doll.

You mentioning elf ears is quite interesting; we got similar questions for other small dolls like WM Doll's 65 and Sanhui 88 as well. Is there really demand for elfen dolls?
For life-sized dolls, one could try accessories like this, or just mold an ear extension in silicone:
For small silicone dolls it would be a bit fiddly, bit it's doable… hey Chloe, would you like pointy ears?
