I find Krys Boyd tends to listen with a more open mind than many. We'll see how the discussion goes.

After listening to the podcast I feel like every main stream journalist knows nothing about this. If you don't even mention TDF in your article or story, your investigative skills are sadly lacking.

Yes. Between all of the university studies and podcasts, these highly-credentialed people consistently mark themselves as outsiders trying to look in. They really don't get it at all.

Might be better off that they don’t. If they did, they’d find more things to claim they dislike. I, for one, don’t think social acceptance of doll ownership is going to come anytime soon and suspect that dolls & doll owners are more likely going to be a convenient target to distract from the public from the failure of government to crack down on human trafficking and child pornography.

If the PBS crowd wants to know more about doll partners, they should hang up their agendas and look into mgtow or red pill stuff like Casey Jaye.

Cassie Jaye was more concerned about the long-defunct men's rights movement and started her research in an adversarial capacity, but discovered MGTOW along the way. I don't recall Cassie Jaye saying anything about dolls or robots. The one podcaster/sex therapist I know of who actually demonstrated some understanding of the doll lifestyle was Erica Miley, but that was a few years ago. https://podbay.fm/p/sex-talk-with-erika ... 1542884400

I just spent about 45 minutes listening to the above podcast. Some notes....

PBS host, Krys Boyd
Interviewed: Sam Lipsyte, novelist and Harper’s Magazine contributor. His article is called “Ghosting the Machine: Humans, robots and the new sexual frontier.”
Recorded at KERE Dallas, TX

(If you are listening for any new advancement information or specific company/TDF forum information, this podcast is more of an "outsider looking in" overview of morals and ethics.)

Sam Lipsyte is interviewed about attending a talk at the Erotic Heritage Museum, Las Vegas concerning digisexuality, with speakers:
Dr. Markie Twist of University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)
Neil McArthur, author of Robot Sex: Social and Ethical Implications (The MIT Press) Paperback - September 11, 2018

I found the podcast very intriguing, particularly about the concept of Digisexuality (also referred to as Second Wave Sexuality), which the speakers feel is an emerging identity. This interview focused more on morals and ethics, and not any specific company or sex doll forums like TDF.

I think PBS' Krys Boyd did a very good job with the interview, asking thought provoking and insightful questions about what might be next in digisexuality. (It did feel at times that Sam Lipsyte felt a little out of his element, but he certainly did his homework and was willing to talk about the assignment/experience with the thoroughness of a seasoned writer.)

I like Casey Jaye’s work. Especially the way the Feminists reacted to it. My connection is that dolls and such are a natural consequence of a mgtow red pill male reaction to an insanely feminist world. It was part of my journey into a doll life. And my doll Lynda likes the videos!

I didn't listen to the podcast but read the article. I got the distinct impression that he'd have written a more useful article if he had "boinked" a doll instead of venting his sexual frustration into binge gambling.

Sam seemed to use the term doll and robot kind of interchangeably. I think people can understand the concept of having a relationship with a robot that can at least seem like it's interactive much more easily than with an inanimate doll.

I agree, it really does seem like "robots" with developed AI and artificial feelings, thoughts and impulses seem to bother people in the mainstream LESS than purely "inanimate" but realistic dolls, when no matter how far AI gets, so much of the relationship with a doll is always going to come from our own imaginations.

I see myself becoming a Luddite on this topic as the technology develops, unfortunately. If I'm going to intentionally play this game with my mind, I'd at least like to know that I generated more of the make believe than programmers I've never met either.
