Broken limbs are never fun, sorry for you. as you know, doggy is always a risky position. I have a soft bed with 2" of memory foam over the top and I still worry when doing that pose.
What is interesting is by the look of your photo of the opened-up wrist is - the wrist looks like a ball joint, which I would usually welcome as an improvement due to the increased motion (side to side movement not present in most dolls). Hopefully they will make it a little stronger.
