Advice on adding facial hair to your doll

Post by ColVegas »

I haven't gotten my first doll yet, but I know I will want to add some facial hair to him. What have any of you done to add facial hair? Makeup? Glued on lace pieces? I need some advice and ideas! Thanks (:

For Larry, I got him some sideburn wigs and adhered them with Spirit Gum adhesive. You can get it at a local costume/party store or online at Amazon. You will also want the Spirit Gum remover as well. But then I decided I wanted him to have some implanted facial hair, so I got a felting needle (size large, they have small barbs along the body of the needle to catch the hairs and push them into the skin) and I also cut into the threading loop of a regular sewing needle and implanted the hairs. That way is a very lengthy process, but I have to say I am very pleased with Larry's result.
I love and have loved many dolls.

Thank you Docsgirl82! I knew you had mentioned implanting some hair on another post. I definitely want to try that at some point, but I should probably start with something easier. Is there something that adheres to TPE well and is more permanent than spirit gum?

Regular old Elmer's glue sticks very well to TPE, yet is easily removed with warm water. My gals pubes are fastened that way and has yet to come off until I want it to.

Colveges- if you go with the spartan doll clint from iron man dolls be very careful. I got this doll with facial hair and is came out every time i touches his face and now he has none! Implanted hair domes out very easy.

It already came out? It must not have been implanted deep into the skin. Damn, that sucks..

anytime colvegas! I was so excited when i got clint with facial hair until it fell out which was depressing but like i said he is very good looking without it as well! I might give mine a 5 o'clock shadow in the future but for now he is ok!
