Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
My new Sanhui 165+ arrived recently. A nice skirt I bought on eBay arrived and I washed it twice before putting it on her.
Yep... probably needed 20 washes to be safe, after sleeping overnight, sure enough now my baby has some stripe stains on her butt.
Any wisdom on how to remove? So far I have tried gently wiping with microfibre cloth mixed with detergent. It's helping but a slow process.
(I don't dare to really scrub in the fear that may cause more damage).
Thanks in advance!
Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
If you need some stronger stuff, you might want to look into Indigo's stain remover here instead, which is a lot better than what you get from doll manufacturers.
If the doll is silicone then I'm not sure what's best.

Hi Nord,Nord wrote:Is it TPE? Then most stains and even makeup can be removed with mineraloil, either from babyoil or vaseline. Just rub it on there and wipe off with the fibertowel. Might want to repeat a few times.

Yes it's a Sanhui 165+ Silicone. That indigo link says it's silicone friendly. I'll look into it thanks!
Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
1) Try mineral spirits. (Called mineral turpentine in Australia). Hardware Store.
2) Try xylene (Another solvent of some sort). Hardware Store.
3) Try oxy wash powder. Supermarket.
4) Don't overreact, try normal cleaning and baby powder continuously. Silicone will actually "bleed" out the stain in time.
That indigo product looks very fit for purpose... but it's pricey and I am not sure they ship to Australia.

And also the stain remover from indigo is amazing! And best of all, it works on silicone too.

No mineral spirits or xyline that is for tpe only.ypdoll wrote:Search results have revealed these ideas:

Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
I wouldn't do anything cause most stains get bleached by light within some time.
If you can, let her sit where the sun can shine on her and it will gone within some days.
Buy used clothes of better quality you can get them extremely cheap on ebay and many other websites selling used clothes or you go to some thrift store or something like that if you want.
Extremely cheap clothing always stains a lot.

Yeah cheaper clothing (especially ones made from synthetic materials like polyester) doesn't tend to be as colour fast as better quality items.thismeanswar wrote:Extremely cheap clothing always stains a lot.
Denim can sometimes stain bad as well, particularly darker colours; even on us real people!!
And the inside of boots and shoes as well.

Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
I will give it a week.
If it still bothers me I'll go shop for the indigo product and won't risk the more chemical solutions.
Cheers
Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
Silicone acts like a congealed liquid. The stains will disperse over time.Forb wrote:My Sanhui has had a few stains, always with black clothing. It goes away on its own in about a week. You'll see the stain slowly bleed out and into the silicone, until it's not visible anymore.
Soaking clothes in a very hot solution of water, salt and vinegar a few times often mitigates color bleed issues.

Re: Newbie mistake - Clothing stain...
.A word of advice from me, avoid stay-up stockings, the silicone band contain LOTS of dye. Go for regular nylon stockings instead
Can I confirm, the same experience.
Without a doubt, the spots disappear after a while.
Yet I still use occasionally these stay-up stockings for a photoshoot.
However, the latter will not be possible with my new TPE acquisition.
