Dude! I live 20min. from Abyss. I would have bought you lunch and brought you over to see my girls if I new you were coming. If you get down this way again, PM me and we can get together. Your girls look beautiful and they will make you very happy....Mishka1965 wrote:Thanks all,
I will definitely get going on some pics, but first need the basics of hanging supports made..
Put the tripod stand together and screwed in a robust 3/8" hanging S-hook from ceiling joist and hung the dolls from there. They do lean forward like others observed, so I'm working on that solution.
So now I'm making a copy of Dodgeman's stance modifier. Just went to Lowes and got all sorts of metal pieces and now am planning on cutting and welding it together. I'm making two of them today.
Hopefully should have them ready saturday after painting them..
So much to do!

Hey Zebo,
You bet, next time. My wife and I will come down again to visit the wine region, and she wants to see more of the Abyss factory.
I took I15 home then through Pasadena to get home. Damn the traffic was pretty rough for the late afternoon, but staring at the ladies in my car made it better!

Re: They're Here - Heather and Stacie
Sorry Mishka that I feel that I have the need to make a post here about AH's post which is basically directed at me for who knows why even though my name is not mentioned Directly.Alottahope wrote:Just thought I would clarify an important point. The credit should go to the proper source since a lot of Ideas are borrowed here at TDF. The stance modifier is actually Camp and incrediwagons idea! These were guys that spent time here and on other doll sites. They should get the credit as I don't think many people know this but we should all be grateful for the great thinkers here at TDF and not neccesarily the copy cats. Good job on the camp stance modifier Mishka! You are very resourceful! Great dolls too!
This photo is from 2009 or before.
There are Many members here that do not know the original sources of or the ideas for the stance modifiers because they were first used 8 or more years ago by Former members of this forum and some still current members from that time which I have not named. I myself have never laid claim for the IDEA of the modifier nor have I ever taken Credit for the modifiers as some people may think or believe. I simply took a VERSION of that IDEA and RE-DESIGNED it be lighter, made of better materials, adjustable for height and body pitch to a degree and easier to install on a doll for the most part. There is the notion that I am a COPYCAT or some of us are copycatters and NOT a Great thinker or thinkers even though my name is not called out directly and that is bogus for FAR too many people here know me well personally and have been to my home and shop to know better. I did NOT copy the modifier created by the creator of the first ones that surfaced years ago or mine would look just like those, Made of pipe fittings. Mishka used my modifiers to base his modifiers on as they are probably the only ones that he has seen lately, Not the originals created by the former members of this forum and that is fine, no issues as I do not care one way or another which one is used for a basis for another design.
For proof of what I said as to the fact that I am NOT the IDEA man where these modifiers are concerned and just took an example of one that works well and Re-Designed it, here is a link to the thread that Rocky created over 2 years ago about the stance modifier soon after I sent him the very first one,.. http://dollforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=62384 and you can read my post on the first page 3/4 of the way down.
Here are some of the very words from that post that anyone can read for themselves,..
(The stance modifier is based on another one built by a former member of the forum and made of pipe fittings however, I took the time to redesign it, make it out of better materials and made it fully adjustable so it could be taken apart and more easily attached to a doll without doing any potential damage to any doll that the modifier is used with! The modifier will work with any doll that has a 3/8-16 threaded port in the neck area and is (designed) to be hung or stored in that fashion! The adjustments will allow the user to find the best weight distribution or balance when posing a doll for photography.)
I contacted Alottahope about this post thru PM but, I needed to clarify this in regards to his post that I just saw even though it is from late September. Believe me, this will NOT be continued here in Mishka's thread as some sort of childish fight as it is not warranted in any way and that is just NOT my personality as many here know. This post was an (Insult) to me and for reasons that I am not aware of so forgive me that I had to speak up on this! I may not have invented this wheel but, like so many other products in the world, there is no reason that this wheel cannot be improved and I feel that I have perhaps done just that with my own version my friends.

Like you said you can always improve on an existing idea. I am always working on stuff that other's may have first invented, but anyway, I am happy with "the" stance modifiers as they are, and they're holding up well.
I know you are great at engineering and I can connect at that level..

Thank you there Mishka and yes, thinking of ways to improve just about anything or everything seems to be human nature for sure and it is fun too.Mishka1965 wrote:Hey dodgeman, no worries mate, I would not take much offense here to what people say. I just read it, ok and whatever, and moved on.

Great to hear that your modifiers are working well and from your photos of the girls, I would say that all is fine! They can be simple or elaborate but, in the end, they all do the same job no matter who makes them.
If you ever have any ideas of creating anything that I cloud perhaps help with or learn of from you, please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.
