Powdering Your Ebony Babe
Been messing around with how to powder my silicone and TPE ebony colored dolls and have come across a solution:
I have used cocoa powder in the past, but that never seemed to work very well and made quite a mess.
So, following the steps for how to make Holi powder for the Hindu celebration, you can color cornstarch to any shade you want.
Mix the cornstarch into a small bowl of water, adding as you stir to mix into a soupy paste... Then add food coloring to change the color of the cornstarch, just a few drops will make a difference... Let the mix dry in the bowl, breaking it up and crumbling it after a while to speed drying... You can see the change from white to tan to brown, depending on the amount of tint you add.
Once dry in the bowl, use the butt end of a screwdriver as a pestle to finish grinding it back into a fine powder and it's ready to apply.
I've got some red coloring on order to get a more chocolate shade for one of my ebony girls, so we'll see how that works.

How about running it thru a flour sifter to break it back up? That's what I use for my powder mix.

Using food color and water finally is so obvious...
Glad you came up with this

Have not seen any staining, it's no different than getting white cornstarch on dark clothing, just brush it off with a damp cloth.Mr Franz wrote:Seems like a good idea, but wonder if it would stain clothing or leave a residue?
Not sure what you mean by residue, it's just cornstarch. The residue it leaves is the powdering effect you are trying to achieve in
the first place, nothing more.
Thanks!

Like Charlie stated in the previous post, the powder can be removed as usual (well, i didn't expect it to be any different, since the color particles are water-solvent).BigBurrito wrote:Got a cocoa head with a light tan YL155, may try your idea, but can it be cleaned off and restore the original color back?

Ok, sounds reasonable.CharlieWone wrote:Have not seen any staining, it's no different than getting white cornstarch on dark clothing, just brush it off with a damp cloth.Mr Franz wrote:Seems like a good idea, but wonder if it would stain clothing or leave a residue?

As to residue, yeah that's what I meant. Somehow, white residue on dark clothing doesn't seem as bad as brown residue on white clothing. Say underwear for instance. If you get my drift.
Hell of an idea though. I'll differently have to give it a try. Have you ever tried the already powdered variety of food coloring? Seems like it would simplify the process a bit. Just sift the 2 together in 1 hit.
