Those came out nice.
Is this a time proven formula you found on the net somewhere?
I have a Realdoll silicone face that needs painted: Lips, eye liner, eye shadow and eyebrows.
I assume I can leave the RTV a little thicker to build up some eyebrows?

Another thing that might work nice for painting is Permatex flowable silicone windshield sealant. I was messing around with it making some nipples a while back.
It already has a semi fluid consistency - I didn't even need to add any thinner. Flows out nicely on a surface and kind of self levels.
I used a tiny bit of acrylic paint to tint and it mixed nicely without thinner.

The thinner you do it the longer is the cure time. I have never used an airbrush as I am an artist with a brush. The lips and eyeliner (thin mix more mineral spirits) The thicker it is the faster it dries. I had a 15 to 20 minute work time on the nipples because I mixed thick less mineral spirits. )
Her nipples are hand sculpted from rtv 4500 silicone.
The paint is as soft as the rest of the doll. Eyebrows and eyeliner I paint on with a toothpick it's the only way to go for a more realistic look.
If you try air brushing keep acetone on hand. To clean out your airbrush, if it's me I'm only mixing and using the smallest amounts possible.
Thanks for the great questions. If you a ll need anything else or I missed something let me know and I will try and be helpful.

If I was going to airbrush I would probably order the correct silicone, thinner and pigment from Smooth-on or other supply houses. You could always try Samara's recipe, but I know the supply houses have the correct stuff for airbrushing. The nice thing about paint brush application is you can build up and add texture.selobl wrote:Could that mixture be thinned enough with odorless mineral spirits to go through an airbrush?
