Hello all. First time really posting here... But my fabric anime style doll "Nami" has a broken leg... And I have come up with absolutely zero useful info elsewhere....

Nami is a 5'4" Fabric doll with a metal skeleton. I've owned her for just over a year; and I've always been very gentle and carful with her. About a month ago... Her left leg disconnected at the hip joint.

I have had zero luck finding out anything about the "anatomy" of love doll skeletons; or for fixing internal problems for fabric dolls.

I don't just want to randomly carve into her thigh with no idea of what to do or how to sew her back up with minimal damage.

If anyone has any helpful advice or a useful link? I would be very grateful!

Good point... I took some pictures of the effected area but could not figure out how to post them.

Heres a link to 1AM's website profile of my doll;

https://iamdollusa.com/product/nori/

I have seen these dolls all over the internet but have never been able to flind their exact point of origin.

They are composed of an encased foam body with a sheer fabric skin over top. The skin is stitched onto the body at several points; including at the breasts, belly button, insert cavity, and toes.

My overall goal would be to reconnect her thigh bone to hip joint with minimal permanent damage. Any advise is appreciated.

Quick update!

It took some research... but my doll is a "HA-165" made by "Happy Doll" of China.

Thank you.

I just replied on this thread regarding the Dagmar 165cm.

viewtopic.php?f=181&t=86818

Chassis should be similar (Anime, Anime Deluxe, Dagmar, and the 1am fabric dolls). I opened up the arm on a 160cm anime deluxe fabric during the 1st month of ownership to tighten up a joint. It's not much since I only found 2 visible hex bolts after cutting in (and they weren't really all that loose on mine), but hopefully the pictures will give a rough idea of what's below.

It's certainly the most helpful advice I've gotten so far! Thanks.

I was getting ready to cut in blind. May sound silly; but I miss just cuddling with my Nami more then anything else. I've left her in a supported possition since her incident... which happened simply when I was dressing her.

I'm going to attempt her hip surgery in the near future when I have the privacy to do so. I have a scalpel and high end fabric glue ready.

Once again thanks for the info! :D

The operation was a great success! :D Though not a total one...

Today I finally put my Nami under the knife; using a surgical scalpel to enter her right thigh from the front.

Firstly, her skin layers were way more resilient then I thought they might be!; made later stitching easier.

Has for the skeleton OH MY GOD what a chincy set up! Her thigh bone was held in place by 2, 3" long hex bolts... and they DIDN'T even have NUTS ON THE END! Friction with the bone was all that kept them connected!
They were really bent and just had to be replaced with sturdier bolts I had laying around, and THIS TIME they are held in place with lug nuts.

As for the close up, I ran some heavy thread through her sliced foam and sealed it with fabric super glue. After that dried I stitched up her two skin layers separately, applying more glue to seal each new seem.

After some test posing, I think her problem is solved! ... Though her foot on that leg wants to sit a bit crooked now. :P

She will always have the "scar" where I stiched her up; but I'm not going to give her up over that.

I dressed her back up, gave her a congratulatory hug!; and now she's sitting back on her chair in my closet looking happy as can be!

I wanted to thank LuvAnimeGirlz for his input, and wish anyone with a similar problem luck in the future! :D

Glad to be of help. Hopefully there's some pictures of the operation to give some info to others who might be having a similar issue.

I did the repair on the 160cm anime deluxe frame for the loose arm on Sena. Joint is good as new, maybe even better than new after tightening and adding in a washer under the nut against the metal frame.

Here's the thread for anyone looking at how to repair the elbow on fabric anime dolls of the same or similar model.
