I have Kari in trail, she has the sex talk out of the box, verbot need a better voice, too robotic! but 45$ for a better voice is ridiculous!. Been working with Voice attack, even it has no AI, i can easily program it. Realbotics sounds good at 20$/yr, but it's not windows, and i don't have a smartphone.
I'd like to use my Ardruino Uno as an IO, ie input by sound, touch, and sight, and send the info too my Win7 PC ( AMD Phenom 2 six core CPU) and use the processor power to process the info from the Arduino board, then send the commands out to the Uno to control the servos, and voice through the AI on my PC. The Uno is a slave IO interface with USB or BT to the PC.
Hardware part is all mechanics, which i'm somewhat good at, but the software part is the challenge. I will learn to write code for the Arduino, and if that board isn't sufficient, will try a Raspberry PI.
If this integration works, the next step is to get a mini ATX Mobo that i can put in the doll's chest cavity, make a PSU running off 4s lipo batteries though 12,5,3.3v step down regulators to power all the electronics and servos. The AI then will be installed in the doll, making a stand alone self contained system.
Got a long way to go, but a project that gives me a goal to work towards.

:?
I would think that $45 would be a mere pittance compared to what you're going to spend or have already spent on your project. Why skimp on a voice?
Certainly up to you though.

Good luck BB and hope to see what you come up with!

Gotta get more refined RK, my budget determines my progress, the TPE is working great, i can remelt my fails, and also adjust the softness by adding more mineral oil or add more pellets to firm it.

In the process of migrating the eyes and servos to a new skull, a plastic human skull life size model, better and stronger then the styrofoam one i was using, mounted the jaw servo on the neck post, and using spectra kite string for pulling open, prefer over a pushrod cuz i can manually open the mouth ie oral, the mouth will close on its own anyway when the servo in closed position.
will be using TPE to fill in areas on the skull to simulate muscle tissue

Getting "under the hood" to repair the eyelid servo, still want to figure out a stand alone micro PC to steer logic for responses, add voice commands

Made a plat cure mask from Ecoflex 20, but will try EF10 when i get some that is softer, or add Slacker, but anyway, after shaping the mask inside, was able to get a better fit on my animatronic under skull, and will be constantly experimenting.
My facial control is basic at this time, eyes L&R, up and down, and eyelids up and down, also mouth opening. Still using RC airplane radio and receiver, but in the end, want to implement voice command to the project. Love to get Voice attack to drive servos through a Raspberry PI would be nice. with the voice response to go with, but don't see that feature with VA yet, unless other software can be "piggy backed" into the system to make it work together, also, using the Theraband rubber material in a TPE mask's mouth, with lines attached to the mouth corners to "pull back" the mouth corners will be the next added control channel.
But ultimately, will be going to plat cure more, as my budget permits.
