How to keep a loose fitting wig in place
How to keep a loose fitting wig in place
I always fit a standard nylon wig cap to both protect the head and give the wig something to grip on. You can get these from Ebay for pennies.
First, you will need an elasticated hairband, about an inch in width. Even a length of elastic sewn in to a loop will do for this, but the hairband should be close to the colour of your girls hair for maximum stealth. I had to shorten the one for Xiaoli, as it needs to be a snug fit to grip the head.
Pin the wig to the hairband. Starting at the centre fringe, pin the hairhand just behind the the front hairline of the wig. Next pin the hairband by the ears, but dont stretch the hairband to do this, just run it around the wigs hair line. Do both side.
Finally pin the centre of the back of the wig to the centre back of the hair band, leaving the section that falls down the neck free. I also clip the wigs elastic adjusters to the loosest loops. If the wig is really loose, you can pin the wig in several places along the back section to hold it close to the head.
Finally, fit the wig making sure you pull the headband into position (as in pics 1 & 2)
Hope that helps, (and in true 9gag style) sorry for the long post, heres some shirt potatoes

I guess the pins don't bother her any. She doesn't appear to be complaining.

I'm going to do that for sure.
Damn wigs falling off every time I reposition the doll.

Good tip --- thanks.
That's a real mood killer when you got your imagination working and then you have to put her damn hair back on. I'm going to get a skull cap for each wig from now on.

Re: How to keep a loose fitting wig in place
I riffed on his idea here but went the simple route. Seemed to work pretty good. Tried this on a non-staining wig.
1. First make sure elastic straps that came on the wig are passed thru the wigs loops that are over about the middle (ear) section of wig.
2. Take an ordinary office desk type stapler and starting where the wigs elastic band attaches to the cap (before the loop) stapled it straight along to the rim of wig, several times.
3. After doing both sides, stretch the elastic down towards the back and cross the straps over one another once, about an inch above the end of straps where hooks are, to form an "X" Staple again on the X .
4. Take the free hook ends and secure on the loops that are sewn on the very bottom rim of the wig, or if loops are big enough you can pass the hook thru them and hook back upon itself.
Will try stapling a wig cap to the rim of a staining wig and post results.
