The beautiful Ran Amano doll
Section 1: Purchasing your Ran doll.
I would recommend using either ToyDemon http://www.toydemon.com/Ran-Amano-Blowu ... -Doll.html, or Kanojo Toys http://www.kanojotoys.com/ran-amano-air ... p-291.html, athough Kanojo will charge you $67 for shipping. Ouch. I have dealt with both sites, and recommend both for fast service. The Ran doll purchase will cost around $105 US and another $20 to $65 for shipping.
Section 2: The day she arrives!
This is the most exciting part, the day your new doll comes home! You'll notice that she comes with a very nice catalog from ToysHeart, in Japanese. Well, the pictures are nice. Also included is a small tube of lubricant, a latex sleeve, and a very cheaply consructed schoolgirl uniform. I wouldn't get that too close to an open flame, by the way. You'll find the shirt is very thin and flimsy, and the skirt is too small. Ah well. The insert is kind of nice, but unnessessary. Ran has a very soft opening, and with care, will last a very long time. The sleeve will probably rip after a few uses any way, so give it to a friend or regift at a bachelor party.

Re: The beautiful Ran Amano doll
Some care must be exercised when giving your doll life. Unlike some dolls that you can blow up till you're blue in the face, Ran is a bit more fragile. The seams have improved a bit over the years, but they will eventually give you some trouble unless you leave her a bit soft. The air nozzle is located on her back, on the right hand side. Thankfully it doesnt have one of those check valves, so you can easily inflate and deflate. You'll know when Ran is fully inflated when she can almost stand on her own without the legs buckling. If she can stand on her own, let some air out. Fully inflated she's 62 inches tall, or 158 cm.

Re: The beautiful Ran Amano doll
As with most vinyl dolls, there will come the sad day when you discover she just doesn't hold air like she used to. Small leaks can be very hard to find, and I recommend taking your Ran doll in the shower, get her good and soapy, and looking for air bubbles in the soap. Besides, this is a helluva lot of fun. When you find the spot what needs patching, I highly recommend buying a cheap doll, or another old doll that's just laying around, for patching material. I've tried using inflatable toys and the like, but it just doesn't look good. Also try to find a very thin vinyl for patching. While this may sound counterintuative, thick patches will rip at the edge of the patch, needing another patch for this patch. Thinner vinyl, however, will stretch a bit, and negate all that second and third patching. There are two places I've found that always blow out first. The first one is the area between the two love holes. In fact, you can go ahead and patch that area right now, and be proactive, because sooner or later, thats going to be a problem area. The second one is the area around the armpits. The glue that I highly recommend is Loctite Vinyl, Fabric, & Plastic adhesive. It smells nasty, so use in a ventilated area, but it gets the job done. Spread evenly over the back of the patch, and hold firmly for a few seconds. Let patches dry for at least 3 hours before inflating again.

Re: The beautiful Ran Amano doll
I have found that Ran will hold up just fine after multiple showers and or baths. Her head is filled with a normal polyester fiberfill material. This material seems to resist mold and mildew, as im sure some water seeps through the hair roots, but she never smells mildewy. I use a shampoo for synthetic hair, but poor Ran's hair can get rather tangly, so some input as to hair maintenance would sure be appreciated.

Re: The beautiful Ran Amano doll
Ran dolls are so much fun to dress up. Besides being awfully cute, they have pretty good proportions for wearing clothing. There are only a couple of downsides to Ran in this regard. First, she doesn't have any real hands or feet. Secondly, her torso is a bit short for her size. So no buying one piece bathing suits, they just wont fit right. Aside from that, you'll have a lot of fun dressing and photographing her.
Height: 5'-2" or 158cm
Bust: 35" or 89 cm. I find most bras size 34 or 36 C work well.
Waist: 26" or 66 cm
Hips: 34" or 87 cm
I have found that large juniors sizes, or small in womens sizes works well most of the time for tops. Go with size 5 or small for panties, but she'll easily wear size 7 skirts and pants. Size 9 is too big, and size 5 can be a bit snug, unless you put them on before she's inflated. Cassi has two pairs of boots, one is a size 6 1/2 the other is a medium, whatever the hell that means. I try to find boots in the 6-9 size range, usually on clearance. She will wear over the ankle boots just fine, and youd never know she doesnt have any feet.

Yeah, it's kind of in an awkward spot. But at least it's out of the way for most pictures.dollluver73 wrote:Thats interesting I have never seen an inflate with the valve off to the side and that low before. ha.

Edited to add:
Omocha dreams and Toy demon seem to have them in stock. I have not much experience with these stores, however I bought an insert from Omocha dreams for my TB and got it, so I think they are not scammers.Nonfactor wrote:I wish she was easier to get in the west.

I purchased my Ran Amano Doll from Kanjo Toys in Japan. I've had good luck with them, but the cost will obviously be a lot more there than it would be from a domestic seller. They ship EMS, which has often arrived to me in as little as two days.
Both the price of Ran and Kanjo's shipping cost have gone up in the year or so that have passed since I shopped there, so much so that it seems excessive. Thoguh, for Ran, I would gladly pay as much as I had to. I think I'll buy two or three 'back-up Rans' while they're still remotely affordable.
Here's a link to Ran's page at Kanjo's site:

I'll post pics of my lovely, lovely Ran and share my experiences with her tomorrow. Who knows, she may even stop in herself and say 'hi.'
Thanks for making this topic, Mindy! Ran deserves all the love and attention she can get. <3

Re: The beautiful Ran Amano doll
She had the prettiest face out of all of the few dolls I owned and she was a joy to take into the shower. I still have her insert which fits great into my other dolls and feels the best out of the inserts that fit them. Her uniform still remains and has been handed down to the other dolls. I never got much time to play dress up with her, aside from a pair of panties she borrowed from my ex, but she looks great in the pictures Mindyflyer took.
Ran is a great doll and I wish I still had her. I imagine her sister doll, Yuria (http://wackyoutlet.com/yuria-amano-anime-love-doll.html), is every bit a wonderful to own just in a different pose and one less entry. I would easily recommend Ran to any one interested in inflatable dolls.
