you were talking about reverse engineering, making the doll . someone on here had took the body of one of these dolls and i belive coated it with latex and made a pull of mold of the body, i think that's what he did , i believe this can be done but would have to ?ROLL? on the latex let dry and keep rolling it on in coats to make thicker ! This may be our last resort to keeping other latex dolls alive . by remolding them to make more .
with china businesses into so much production of things i am really surprised that china doesn't create molds (simlur to what france has ) and dip them just as france does and sell them on the open market . I wish they would . :)

Honestly I have seen much discussion here in these matters of reverse design of latex dolls be it Letha Weapons or Latex Lover - but have seen few if any really marketable results other than some tinkering

There was a some fine work from Germany by a member here at TDF in the past with some incredible designs and true workmanship - but sadly as I am sure the work involved was very intensive and from a mass produced standpoint not really feasible and has since discontinued

The best way to go still remains the sculpt mold way with dipping the doll in a hot vat of latex - this as I have said before is not a hobby project nor a low investment get rich quick scheme - there is a heavy price to getting all the items necessary for a production run - and hoping that the item sells in vast quantities to recoup your investment

What I have seen thru the 30 years that I have been involved with air dolls is that when a latex doll comes to market - it sells for small period of time and then its over - period - there is no long term strategy other than the DOMAX design and what I am seeing of late is that even this doll may have run it's course - as now the re-seller "poupee-latex" is no more and DOMAX even has the doll line on "clearance" - which is a bad omen of eliminating remaining stock

Take my advice for what its worth - go buy a French made latex air doll now - or forever be counted as the another of the membership of "I shoulda coulda woulda"

Yorktown;
I'm the guy that made the spray overs of the letha latex lover, thicker than a domax, if some one has the time and place to do it, they could do a better job than domax and me. Look below, their are some pictures of the letha, I don't have the room at this time to do the job right.

The head on the doll is only for inflating the body and to be removed after I make a new head mold.

solitaryman2414, nice work, for sure!

I'm curious. How time consuming is that latex work. My impression is that each doll requires careful and time consuming labor.

Is the MLD from the original design. If so, you might like to know that the dolls from Sanhui and JM are much, much softer. I didn't discover that until after selling my MLD.

I would like to try to make a copy of a latex doll , my biggest problem is getting around things , like what does a person put on the original doll so that the latex that's applied doesn't just stick to the doll , is it coated with something if so what?
also is their a way to thin and roll the latex on a doll with a small paint roller (which would make it a lot easier . ) this is the main thing i would like to know , also with latex what can be used to thin it , where can the correct latex be bought ?
we have a basement here where we live , but if theirs anything certain fumes , the heating stove is in the basement .
so would have to do it in a shed outside when the weather is better .

Obin;
The MDL I think is the older harder silicone[2010 model]and much harder than the elf [39'']doll which is a lot softer, much like tpe in softness.
As for recoating a latex doll, it can take a few days with a spray[only hvlp]gun.

I wish you had a photo album I could peruse. :)

I purchased an MLD shortly after Adam started selling.

I don't know anything about the equipment you mention. If it requires an air compressor, though, I'm out. I live in a small apartment.

I remember this information from an earlier discussion. The new layers of latex don't adhere to the original latex, so there is no issue with this.

I tried using a roller, but after a while the roller will just slide on the latex and not turn, that is why I went to the hvlp spray gun. With the spray gun, you can use right from the pail with no thinning, but you can use animona or distilled water, never tap water as it minerals and not pure. As long as the surface is smooth and no ruff spots, the new latex will pull off, but must be pulled as soon as cured. If any ruff spots are present cover with thin coat of silicone rubber and the new latex won't stick when pulling. For the recoating I have done, I used a hvlp spray gun with oil less air compresser, but need at least a 6 gallon air tank so as to keep up with sprayer.

A brush would the next thing after a sprayer, as any brush marks will be on the in side after you pull the body. One thing I found out, if you dip just hand and feet after you do the whole body, they will look better, just make sure not too get runs or dips in latex.
How to do this is to dip hand in the latex, then let all access latex dip off, then turn hand up right for a few seconds then dip in vinegar and let dry, then repeat to the thickness you want and do the same to the feet, but do this after you turn the body so the smooth part of body is on the outside and the hand and feet will look real nice.

Obin;
If the doll to be copied has ruff spots, put a thin coat of silicone, the latex I have used is holden's and fun fx, only holden's has a pre valcanized latex all the rest are not. I have done a letha, latex lover, 3 mdls and some other silicone doll[4']. The mdl and the 4' doll are stuffed and air filled.

Thanks - Tullingdoll - and welcome aboard - :thumbs_up:

Yup I never stopped searching - for kool and long since discontinued air babes - you just never know what you'll find out there - mostly its hit or miss - with miss being the operative word - but in the last few years I have had my share of pay dirt - :mrgreen:

Good luck on your doll quest - Tullingdoll - :wink:
