Skeletal Replacement

Post by Newbie98 »

Hi,

I am in the process of replacing my TBD skeleton (got tired of having to rebend all the wires in her legs because they would bend up in her hips so much that the foot part of the skeleton would end up in her shin. I found the romex cable and PVC pipe idea on here, so I started...only problem is replacing the stuffing in the legs once the new skeleton is installed so that the skin is smooth and not bumpy? Has anyone undertaken this and learned how to restuff her?

There won't be as much stuffing replaced because the PVC is 0.5" diameter, but what I have put back in the one leg (doing one side at a time) is bumpy...

You have to refluff as you stuff. And take a long blunt object to move it around to place it where you like. I had to do that with pheonix.

I'm interesting in hearing about how your new skeleton project turns out.

Thank you Samara, or some reason I didn't think about a long object, I was just using my hands on the outside of the skin...I am about to try an object.

DollA - I'll try and get some pictures up...making the skeleton wasn't difficult though

Good stuff. I used a dowel with a rounded blunt tip. It worked beautifully.

She came through the lengthy surgery very well. It was a long an complicated surgery, but after 10 hours of work, she was complete. New skeleton. Everything was replaced except the neck and head support. I was able to leave about 6-8 inches of the original skeleton for that part. I connected the two sides with a 4 inch piece of PVC and electrical tape. I figured leaving the neck and head support was easier since it was sturdy already and I was not sure how it played in without brain surgery.

Here you see the far leg has been installed, and mostly stuffed, but the spine has not been connected. The near leg is set nearby for comparison, with the original skeleton in the foreground, JUNK.

Both arms were rebuilt, including the hands, in a similar fashion to how the legs were put together. The only exception was the romex was cut short and the fingers were shoved into the forearm PVC.

A happy girl after surgery! She was a little sluggish, but managed to pose for the photo on her own (not possible before the surgery!) Success!!

A new set of bra and panties awaited her after surgery...however, the 34D seems a little large on her now, might have to go with a 32DD...which would mean a bra liquidation sale might be coming...

Thank you D.A.! I thought it would take less time than it did. A fair amount of time was spent early-on getting into the groove and figuring out the best procedure. Definitely a learning experience. Oh and there were several breaks taken too :glou:

Excellent job mate, well done, I'm still putting mine off for a few more months, not decided on what way to go with the frame, I might do a hybrid of ideas... or not.

Pete.
