I have had to put Ami away. The rashes on my arms are showing no signs of healing even with meds. Contact dermatitis. So, Ami is now resting in her storage bag at least until the rashes go away. Then I will attempt to find the root cause. It has been suggested that the wigs may be the problem, When she comes out of the box, she will be wigless for a week. In the meantime I will be monitoring my progress just in case it 's a reaction to the memory foam Mattress topper I bought so she could share my bed. My gut feeling is that I'm reacting to the TPE. The rashes are at the body contact points typical of the way I hug her. Feeling a bit down.
Has anybody else had these problems? It can't be just me?
Is silicone the same? May have to make contingency plans.

Bugger!

Oh, that's bad.
I seem to remember that Narcissus has had an allergy problem with cheap wigs as well, but I'm not sure.
But if your rashes are at the contact points with her body, I don't think it's the wig.

Didn't know anyone could be allergic to dolls. :?
I have a dollalbum, with loads of nice pics. My twinsister Erika has her own album, which also has some pics of me hanging out with her. We have our own thread where we post our pics. Stop by and say Hi!

Don't forget to take a look at my girlfriend Juliana.

My Lexi visits lots of places. Allison is featuring in her travels. Allison has her own thread too.

It is rare but does happen. Is she tpe or silicone? Worse case you can always go plush.
Good luck

I haven't had the same experience, but I feel your pain and sorry for your separation. Hopefully it is only temporary.
I think you are on the right track in isolating the source. Dolls can bring with them a whole host of possible unrealized foreign allergic reactions, bacterial, fungal or viral considerations.
It is very possible a bad reaction to the TPE, wigs or even the new bedding. Also consider any makeup, powder (corn starch or talc?), soaps, your cleaning process and anything else recently introduced.
Once you are healed (and confirm the source-again hopefully NOT her) give her a good shower. I use a water, bleach, peroxide mixture in a 4:1:3 parts respective ratio (use care when mixing bleach and peroxide) for occasional sanitation. Also use a good antibacterial soap or dishwashing liquid.
TPE allergies do exist (rare) but silicone dolls are usually better tolerated (very rare reactions) and easier to keep clean.
I wish you a speedy recovery and best luck in discovering the culprit.

Thanks for the advice, I have washed her several times with antibac soap and use corn starch to powder her. Oh well, into the waiting game again.

TPE dolls outgas a lot of chemicals when new but it does greatly improve with age.

Do you have any TPE onaholes?

I would suggest you try some tests. Find a clear part of your skin, Expose it to a freshly washed part of the doll (wash in only water), maybe write something in pen to remember what area it was (Circle the area and write what contacted it?)

Then on another part of your body, try rubbing some corn starch in and mark that area. Maybe your allergic to that.

Wig and new bedding is another suspect.

I would also do a test on the soap you bought, especially if its new. I seem to recall soaps are a rather common contact allergy.

Clothing the doll is wearing is another one. Especially if it has not been washed it might be heavily contaminated with: mold prevention chemicals (if new) or someones perfume/laundry soap if used.

Either of those can cause rashes. Wash ALL new clothing before you or your doll wears it.

Try to stick to soaps and products you have already been exposed to for a long time.

Also note that suddenly developing allergies is not uncommon. You might be allergic to the laundry soap used on your own clothing.
Every day people remind me why I like dolls better.

Somewhere in my browsing the forum here I have read about other people having allergic reactions to TPE, so it seems not to be an isolated situation, most toys now are being made of TPE, silicone seems to be still reserved for dolls.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my new TPE doll. I had rashes an all areas of skin being in the contact with the doll after two first times of playing with her. First time they disappeared after about five days, the second time after two days. I washed her then two times with shower gel and powdered many times, may be five times, washed her blanket and started to take shower right after the contact with her. The problem was solved.

I also noticed, that all my parts suffered except private parts. It means that water based lubricant is sufficient protection, so you can try to apply it to the areas were rashes appear before contact with the doll after healing of course.

It is also important to reduce the time of contact with the doll, when it is possible. So you should be dressed when moving her around and when warming her by body heat you may use thin polyethylene film as her blanket.

The silicone dolls do not cause the same reaction on my skin even without showering after the playing time.

this highly suggests it was the chemicals (source of the 'tpe smell') that TPE dolls offgas when new that was your problem. or the oils some TPE dolls emit. I was lucky and my dolls skin has always been dry, although the smell for the first week was pretty high.

I agree. they use silicone in medical applications so chances are that it won't cause an unpleasant reaction. My silicone lady hasn't caused me any discomfort and my skin is a little on the sensitive side.....

Hi Everyone, Thank you for your helpful advice. I will be conducting experiments forthwith, well, as soon as the irritation dies down. :D The urge to scratch my itches is almost unbearable!
The bedding is in the wash soon to be followed by all of her clothing.
I still think that its Ami's body that is the problem. She still has a strong odour after two weeks and becomes greasy again very quickly after powdering, (the use vacuum cleaner afterwards, type of powdering!,) even just lying on the bed. I dressed her in satin PJ's after I first noticed the rash issue and have noticed her skin showing through.on her thighs and breasts as if the material is wet. (We are 13days in at this point.) Nevertheless I will continue to investigate the cause and hopefully find a solution.
Perhaps I should remove her from her storage and keep letting her air? Although the temptation for a hug would be overpowering!

Covering myself with lube could be interesting :D I'll have to get some Pvc sheets and spend the evening chasing her all over the bed! :haha4: Seriously, I am also ok down below, so take your point.

I will give status reports as and when.

Cheers,

Tyr

That's probably a good idea. Let her air out so that the "new" smell disappears. It can be a bit much in the beginning.
