Hi Midiman. Sorry about the loss of your father. You did a nice job putting the video together for his memorial service. He seemed like a wonderful guy and was quite the storyteller. It's very encouraging to hear that you've found love, though. I wish you the best.

My condolences, midi. FWIW, I'm glad your dad could look back and laugh at going toe to toe with Messerschmitts.

Everhard: Back in 2006, a friend of mine who flew Hawker Hurricanes against the Japanese and later flew hang gliders in my club, passed away.

There are not many WWII Spitfire pilots left now. William Hockey was one of the last.

I saw a Hurricane at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Udvar-Hazy annex in Virginia back in June.

Thanks everyone. Send off for my dad is tomorrow. Everything is falling into place. Even all 5 grand daughters will be attending. As to me and my bad year...it is on the upswing now.

Best wishes to all. I had read the wonderful tribute but reading quickly had not realised the event was so very recent. It's always a difficult time.

With so much desire for good things but with such little hope of them coming fast, I hope that my words above might help to do just that, being a bridge between heaven and earth so that we who are yet alive can reach heaven even in our lives.

Your Dad was a man of courage and an inspiration to us all to have that courage.
