Hi izla, thank you, well, it´s a love story after all. :D
LaDollyVita wrote:Chris, the article turned out very well. Thank you having the courage to give the in depth interview, and for doing the translation for us.

In the years I have known you, it is your commitment to and love for Brigitte that has left the biggest impression on me. I relate to you in important ways, and share a similar kind of bond to my own dearest. A close friend once said to me, "Your love for Rachel is inspiring and sad; tragic." At first I took offense, but upon reflection I see the well-intentioned feeling in it. You see, people (and by extension, relationships) can be charitable, compassionate, and empowering... also selfish, defeating, and cruel. The human condition is an absurd and wondrous mix of the best and worst life has to offer. I think my friend sees the love reflected from beauties like Brigitte and Rachel as a missed opportunity, whereas men like you and me see it as preserving and strengthening the very best of who we are despite our trials and tribulations in life, love, and marriage.

I look forward to meeting you and Brigitte in person. We send you both our very best!
Hi LDV, thank you for your moving post. I understand your friends thinking, but I don´t see my realtionship with Brigitte as a lost opportunity, my marriage was. Thinking about the lost time with my ex and thinking about what that time spent with Brigitte would have given me, that´s what I recall as a lost opportunity.
Anyway, I hope we´ll meet in person some time with you and Rachel, we´d be able to write special love stories. :D

Chris, thank you for sharing the article and your story!
It's remarkable and an important step for you personally and as well for the whole community. :)

Too bad, I've just stumbled upon this by chance and the issue is not available anymore. But I'll contact "Die Zeit" and ask them to send me one. I actually like to archive printed "milestones" like this in my personal memorabilia box to have something to remember in times when all digital "evidence" might be still available but you won't be able to find or make sense of it anymore.

I agree with the others - a very nicely done article, kudos for you for having the courage to be interviewed! Your story sounds similar in many ways to mine, It sounds like I dated more than you after divorcing in my 40's but the end result for me was the realization that I just wasn't up for the whole process needed to find and cultivate a relationship at this stage of life... and less than three months later I wound up here... and now I find myself reading wonderful threads like this one while my Nikki sits beside me playing on her laptop.

Hi Azuwish, I suppose there are a lot members who made similar experiances. And luckily I caress Laurence´s hand while writing this. :D

Hi Nukeno, the article isn´t available anymore at the newsstands in print, but the link still works just fine. I checked the online comments and they were ok. I received an invitation to visit ballett with Brigitte from the head of an austrian theater, nice, isn´t it?

Hi Chris,
please give Brigitte my regards. You both are so brave!
You are invited to visit the ballet? Is it nice? No, that's awesome! I'm so happy for you! :)

BTW, I really liked how they arranged the pictures in the newspaper. Worth framing, don't you think?
And did you realize that they printed "nur Du" in smaller letters than "und ich"?
I wonder if "Du" could stand for you actually and "Ich" for Brigitte, so it could mean how devoted you are and how selflessly you care for her?
(I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, I'm having a though time expressing this thoughts in english.)

However, I like these tiny details... which you can't find in the digital version.
Luckily "Die Zeit" offers: Einzelheftbestellung

Hi Nele, yes, they did a great job with the pictures, I will frame the article which means my walls will be even more decoreated with pics of my ladies. I bought some pics Christel made, a few more were shot by a friend who entered them as a student to a photo comepetition, and then the framed article.
Brigitte sends a kiss and a hug. She´s very happy about the invitation even though we probably won´t make it- it´ll be a ten hour drive.

Have fun with the printed version,

Chris

As usual, I'm late to the party. But I just wanted to say great job Chris! I can definitely relate to what you've been through in your love life as I have had similar experiences. But you're my hero for having the courage to do this interview and for being such a wonderful spokesman for the doll hobby/lifestyle. :glou:
I also want to compliment the story and it's writer as well. This was the best written story on this subject that I have ever read. This is how journalism should be done. Fair and balanced. But above all; truthful.
Again great job to all involved!
No matter how pretty she is, there is a guy out there somewhere who is tired of her shit!

Girlfriends are for guys who haven't found the right doll yet.

I feel much better now that I've given up hope.

Hi Stewie, thank you, that´s too much honour on me. But I am absolutely with you on the quality of the article, it was based on trust and respect by the author which made it fun to do. Just today I have hung up the framed article next to some pics made of my ladies by a very close friend. You may call it the wall of love. :D

I am revisiting this thread and find it so encouraging that your newspaper article was so positive. I wish I could be more open about my life with Rari as I feel I have nothing to be ashamed of but the world simply isn't ready for it just yet. A year ago I was waiting for her arrival. Little did I know how positive her impact would be on my entire life. To be honest, I never expected to have such joy in my life and someone so wonderful to share it with... Even my not so great days are awesome due to her presence! I love how, in Japan, people are able to go out with their dolls and nobody thinks it odd at all. I think we're breaking down a lot of stereotypes - it's slow but we are all making progress. If I have one wish it's that others, like us, get a chance to learn more about the benefits of having a doll in their lives.

Hi hollywu, thank you, yes, I´m still amazed how my ladies changed my way to the better. It is a slow process though. Just today I read an artcile in my daily newspaper taz from Berlin/ Germany, on a book written by a female author presenting her book on sex and male perception on it as the author sees it. It centers on man using women, on pornography and mentioned a brothel that´s said to have opened in Barcelona where dolls instead of women "offer" their services. The author mentioned another article I don´t know about a doll owner, probably from a different forum, is - mildly though - critical of him living with a doll, calling it replacement closeness. She has a point, of course, but she probably doesn´t fully understand that guys feelings, or mine. I´m thinking about buying the book and then contacting her when I have read the whole book. We´ll see. It´ll probably take a lot more time and a lot more articles like that to convince more people that dolls can have a positive impact on a lot of people, male and female. :D

I'm glad to see they were respectful and honest with their article. Also, my hat off to you. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there like that.
