Pygmalion2, I could be wrong but I think that the movie you are talking about is "Tamaño natural" in spanish or "Grandeur nature" in french, it is a 1973 movie directed by Luis García Berlanga.

Wow I just finished watching it... great movie! I named my doll Bambi and it was funny when they showed the Bambi 14 model.

And then there is also Galaxina from the early 80's and I just discovered a show from the 60s on Hulu called "My Living Doll" starring a pre-Batman Julie Newmar. I vaguely remember watching this as a youngster
