OK, How do I post a picture to a thread?

Need some help in finding your way around TDF? Want to know the short cuts? BBCode support? Using images in your posts? It's all here.

try again. For my own info it was BBCode at flicker, paste here, highlight, then click URL. Bingo. Get your 3D glasses.

Now photos can indeed be uploaded directly from one's hard drive.
I can even upload a video from my hard drive! I tried it, and it works!
Yes, exactly.
With the current forum software it is possible and even the recommended way to attach pictures to the thread directly. This has the advantage that the image will stay in place, which might not be the case when embedding an image from somewhere else (as happened in the previous post, I see).

Due to recent changes to the forum, including overly large photographs in your post or reply will create a "window within a window" that can make it very difficult for members with smaller screens, or those who are accessing the forum via mobile devices, to read any text. As this supplimentary window has only one scrollbar and it is at the bottom; If the text is above the photo (or worse, a series of photos) well, I think you are smart enough to be able to imagine the frustration of having to scroll up and down the page for each individual line of text. And not everyone has that neat little scroll wheel on their mouse.

To avoid this, and allow everyone to be able to comfortably read your posts, please do one of the following.
  • Resize the photo to one no wider than 600 pixels. If you want, you can link the posted photo to a larger version by encasing the reduced image in a set of [url] tags. In the first tag, after the "word" Img, add: =http://url of image. Or include the address of the larger version underneath.
  • Use the [Imgthm] tags. This will automatically create a thumbnail version of your image. Anyone who clicks on the thumbnail will be shown the full sized version.
  • A new addition is [Img600]. Like Imgthm, this tag set will automatically resize your photo, but to a larger 600 pixel size. Again, clicking on the 600px photo will reveal the full size version.
Thank you for your time and courtesy to other members.
