Do wigs cause stains on a silicone doll? Should I avoid dark or bright colors?

First, yes, some wig could cause staining to silicone, fabric and Tpe dolls.
However many don't. It may be wise to wash and dry the wig before putting on your doll companion.
Second, Welcome to TDF! :)

You could avoid the stain problems by finding a human hair wig of natural coloration. Vivicafox makes some reasonable priced options. Feels real and when washed using shampoo and conditioner with familiar smells it will be much less of a doll! Amazon has lots of options, but it will add $100-300 to your dolls wardrobe. Many dark color options from India or Brazil. Smell is a powerful aphrodisiac.

I have found that cheap wigs are generally more prone to causing staining than wigs of moderate to high quality. I have never had staining from a Kanekelon wig, so I really like those as a good, mid-priced option.

Yes, I have read reports of wigs leaving stains on silicone, but I never experienced this myself.
I do have quite some wigs, all synthetic, most kanekalon.
With a new wig (or clothes) just check frequently for stains. As long as stains are not too bad, they will disappear in a few day (or weeks if it's a bit worse). Only very strong stains won't go.

P.S. with a TPE doll be even more careful! It seems that TPE stains more easy and stains are more difficult to remove.

If you do happen to get a stubborn stain, one user here has used mineral spirits on the stain with good results.

I have one wig that leaves minor stains on a 'silicone' doll.

Normally hidden by said wig.
Washing the said wig did not change anything unfortunately.
Relatively easy to remove by above treatment from time to time.

The mineral spirits were for tpe. I can't recommend it for silicone though.

Some dark wigs with a dark under cap will stain. Especially if they are on too tight.

If you do get a stain, but it is isolated to the area of the head which is always covered anyway, then I would leave the stain alone.

Has anyone tested mineral spirits on silicone? I have never had a stain on a silicone doll, so I have never had occasion to test it.

I had a staining incident with a dark wig on one of my tpe gals so ever since then have used flesh coloured wig caps with no further problems. They are really cheap and made of same material as nylon stockings, just slip it on your gals head before the wig making sure the wig internal cap doesn't overlap the flesh coloured cap on your gal.

one of my doll is also got a stain in her head while using a hard black wig. but now i using a blonde type and no stains occured from that. may be the quality of the wig will be the factor rather than it black or any other color.

I've had black wigs both stain and not stain.
I always do a test first and see if any color is leaching.
Found some cheap wigs on eBay that don't stain.
Go figure.

we need to be careful about the wigs we are using... too much cheap quality wigs can almost ruin our dolls.

The only stains that I had on my TPE lady were from the elastic wig straps. This occurred when I had tightened the wig down and left it on for a few days. Since then, I have left the wig on loose and the stains went away on their own.
