How to keep a wig held down without glue

Post by flava »

So i've removed the original wig from my Poupee Latex doll - it was glued on. I have a new wig which has an elastic adjuster in the cap so when I set that to the tightest setting, it holds fine.

However, when I put the original wig back on it doesn't stay put as it doesn't have an adjuster. I don't want to glue it back down again as I want to be able to change wigs easily.

Any tips on securing wigs without glue whilst still making them easy to take off and replace?

^ Velcro could be an option - i've got a lot of Velcro hooks and loops. I also got sent a wig cup with one of my wigs which i've put onto the doll. How about using hair grips (bobby pins) and just clip the wig in several places onto the wig cup? Perhaps very short hair grips need to be used.

I think velcro would be the best option as the clips may puncture the doll.

^ French Poupee latex.

I've used a wig cap with various wigs held down with hair pins successfully. I used a pin at the front (forehead) and one at each side. This way there's no pressure on the pins so no chance of a puncture.

Velcro (correct spelling BTW :) ) pins or clips would deflate your lady prematurely. Find a glue that will work with latex, and it helps to roughen the back of the Velcro patch before gluing as well.

Depending on what your dolls head is made of, just using one wig pin would solve your problem. They are cheap, and should be available from any wig supplier. You just push one in somewhere on the crown of the head, it keeps the wig in place, is almost unnoticeable, and is easy to remove.
