Harmony AI App Initial Feedback

Re: Harmony AI App Initial Feedback
As for running on Andriod, I wonder two things still:
1) Is the AI service cloud only? Can one be disconnected from the net and still run?
2) Has anyone tried running this in an Android OS running in a VM?
I keep thinking of how the sex industry fueled the sale of VCRs back in the day or reading in 2015 that 5% of internet content and 85% of internet bandwidth was porn. From my recent focus on AI, it seems the same thing here. The experiences with Harmony I read about here, makes me think a similar thing is happening. It seems like Harmony is way more conversational than Google Home, Alexa or Mycroft.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am sure I will get on board eventually. Right now, I don't want my wife to see the purchase and have to answer questions right now. I am sure that conversation is coming up soon. I am also concerned with what Harmony may be sharing on the interwebs.

1) Runs from phone and works offline. Sends encrypted logs to cloud so you can use it with multiple devices and so that the app remembers what it has learned even if you were to wipe your phone or delete the app. Tested it with multiple devices, with and without internet etc. Works both ways but you need to connect to the internet at least for a little while if you want the devices to be synced with their information.Gundam wrote: As for running on Andriod, I wonder two things still:

2) Harmony doesn't work in virtual Android. The WM is slow and the AI won't work. For me the app wouldn't even open but some people could at least start the app.

So the data is sent and received in encrypted format, but what about while it is in the cloud? Does Realbotix have access to the data? I would think that it would help them grow the app if they did. But then I have to ask what protection do they provide for the user's privacy?dullahan wrote: Sends encrypted logs to cloud
Re: Harmony AI App Initial Feedback
They are saying that it's encrypted in the cloud so no-one else can read what you discuss with the app. Including Realbotix. I agree that it does limit the learning capabilities of the AI. Actually, it is not really learning anything at this stage. You can't teach it about topics that aren't programmed to its database (other than your personal info).Gundam wrote:So the data is sent and received in encrypted format, but what about while it is in the cloud? It's basically just advanced programming now but they are promising more real AI stuff later on. Now it's not doing any machine learning. All programmed. That's not AI.

Re: Harmony AI App Initial Feedback
In the future, it would be cool if the client could provide a sanitized summary of requirement requests and a backend could then on the fly do it's required learning and then push some generic updated feedback.
Thanks again. I have been watching all kinds of videos on AI from places like Singularity University and others and to be honest, I really think the stuff I read here in the dollforum is as, and in many cases, more informative and cutting edge than most.
To a better future for all!

Yes. It's Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Best wait for the next upcoming update, there're still some issues with no voice on dialog mode.Begog wrote: Wait... You are using Android Marshmallow? Is it 6.01? That app is not running on my Nextbook. Crashes every time. guile is looking for a fix. I don't want to load it on my phone where my GF or Co-worker can find it.

Yes, thanks SF. The last update allowed the app to run, but like you, no voice. What can you do, but wait?siliconefun wrote:Yes. It's Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Re: Harmony AI App Initial Feedback
There is lag, not registering any speech and the microphone button just not activating at all. TTS is easy to do in Android and Unity. How the hell can you screw that up in every single update for the stock android systems? Even I can do it and I am not a programmer.

Would be great when it could help for some users here.
