Revisiting an old thread due to staining and forum search, so is the klean strip mineral spirits not needed? The stain remover seems to do the trick. Do you wash or oil or powder after that?

I've read when putting on clothes to wash first so the color doesn't stain. Does hand or dish soap have any effect since they are often dyed red or green?

A Coles note version from what I gather: wash the doll with spray bottle with a mix of water and hand soap, roughly 5:1 ratio. Use a sponge to wipe, pat down. Apply baby powder and mineral oil (baby oil ok) treatment. Wash doll well before oiling though. Maintain doll by applying Nivea cream or vase...
