Re: Potential design idea to prevent finger pokes

Cud what was the last doll and company you are talking about with no finger pokes? , also what changes was made to make this finger problem not as bad ? and how long have you owned the doll ? .. [Sorry for late reaction. Not reading this forum regularly. I did not notice there was a follow up quest...

Re: Doll building with local Maker/Hacker shops and spaces

I also use the local hacklab/workshop, and have been a regular member for the last three years or so. There may be some tensions there. It is certainly less costly than having a dedicated workspace and on top of this the shared workshop comes with all the benefits of shared ideas and expertise. When...

Head attach rebuild

Some more gore entertaiment.) Ever been curious if it is possible to break the parts inside doll's head? And, if it is possible to break it can it be fixed. The answer is: yes, but chances are you never need to do it. The motivation was to restore the head attachement mechanism which lost its teeth....

Minor repairs (Leg off..)

It could be cautionary tale about (postponing) leg repair. Had this been repaired right when the symptoms apperared it would have been simpler: cut along the seamline and replace a tube kind of repair. It started out looking like quite innocent. Some day by the end of 2013 I noticed the change of mo...

Re: Head release push button

Rubherkitty, Your observations about the built-in mechanism are accurate. So far accidental release has not been a problem. This is because pushing the button requires some force . Also, when the mechanism reaches the point of release the button has already sunk clearly past the skin around the skul...

Head release push button

http://www.dollalbum.com/dollgallery/albums/userpics/12899/normal_headbutton2.jpg One variation of the theme of head release. Inserting a stick into the doll's head can be awkward. This one adds a button on top of the old mechanism. The push button could also be as simple as a short stick which can...

Fiberfill fluff + silicone : tear resistance

One observation about materials which is probably not new, but not obvious either. (Essentially this comes from the effect of long tangled fibres inside silicone, this is not new ) Applying fibers as additive in the form of fiberfill fluff, this may be less explored territory . My usual interest is ...

Re: Potential design idea to prevent finger pokes

Good points, about the loop... In any case, to my understanding the finger pokes and wires cutting through silicone occur mainly because wires are thin and loose and can *move* relative to silicone. It helps if the wire has more hair to attach to, for example like this (I am going to use one like th...

Re: Inserts For Download [3D Mold Files]

Would like to see how you make the ball-and-socket joint work. The ball and socket are mostly there to provide surface for dampening gel or "brake" for the joint. It also requires tendons or tensioned cables for the leg before the doll can stand or sustain pose standing over the thigh. It...

Re: Inserts For Download [3D Mold Files]

Now there is first set of, hopefully compatible, 3D mold parts uploaded there. Three tunnels and one shell. MeshLab seems to find them all right. Cud, Do you have a positive version of the 3d model? Yes, sure, but not of recent versions. It is quicker to make scaling and deformation changes for the ...

Re: Inserts For Download [3D Mold Files]

MannequinFan, Thanks for testing There are many file versions most of which contain errors like you described. I need to go skim through the files with MeshLab or some other helper to track them down first . The STL was from an old version of 3DS max. 3DS files are also available. The joint, it is s...

Inserts For Download [3D Mold Files]

Now What? I have spent quite some time developing and fine tuning love doll insert designs over the years. The reception has been positive but the demand out there is a fairly thin for what I can tell. It is a bit surprising considering the poor performance of readily available inserts and especial...

Re: For Sale: Insert Samples, (For free)

All 2012 samples are gone. [Closing this sale.] I can still make some more if these are needed but this would be different sale. There would be price to cover material costs and shipping. Also the specifics of the samples change a bit. Fabric embedded in the samples too may make them more useful. /Cud

Re: For Sale: Insert Samples, (For free)

Still available? How do you get the samples? Not many left really. A few more have been made upon request. At the moment there are two labia pieces left and two tunnel cross section samples. It takes weeks before the recipients get their samples overseas by snail mail. This means even if I stopped ...
